Criminal Acts by Prison Police at Hegang City's No. 2 Labor Camp in Heilongjiang Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Li Shulin, the director of the Hegang City No. 2 Labor Camp in Heilongjiang Province conducted unchecked persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. He stated, "Jiang Zemin pays me, so I'll work myself to the bone for him."

After April 20, 2002, Li Shilin forced practitioners who were determined in their belief to sit on the cement floor for over two weeks, depriving them of sleep the whole time. For 24 hours a day, the prison guards used criminal prisoners (mainly prostitutes, whom they referred to as "Mistresses") to take turns keeping watch over the practitioners. Whenever the practitioners closed their eyes, the prostitutes would kick the practitioners in the face and on the head and body with their leather boots or use their shoes to beat the practitioners on their heads and faces. They also poured cold water over the practitioners' heads. Practitioners were forced to sit in dirty water. Many practitioners' buttocks and thighs developed abscesses as a result of being forced to sit in the dirty water for extended periods. Many practitioners were tortured until they seemed to be in a permanent trance and could not walk even two weeks later. A practitioner from Xingantai became disabled as a result of this torture.

If any practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, Li Shilin would torture them twice a day with brutal force-feeding. The criminal prisoners also tortured practitioners with the force-feeding method once every several days. Practitioners were force-fed concentrated salt water, which made them unbearably thirsty.

Ms. Gong Guihua from Xinhua Town was force-fed many times, causing her esophagus, trachea, and lungs to become infected. She spit up blood many times and was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Practitioner Zhang Zhenfu, nearly 70 years old, was being detained at the Hegang Detention Center when a prison doctor sent from the No. 2 Labor Camp pushed a force-feeding tube into Mr. Zhang's trachea, causing him to choke to death.

Around May 13, 2002, about 40 practitioners were severely tortured. The police took metal tubes filled with sand and forced the practitioners to wear them like shackles. They also handcuffed the practitioners' hands to the tubes. Practitioners were forced to sit on the freezing ground and not allowed to close their eyes for at least six days and up to fifteen days. If they closed their eyes, the criminal prisoners would beat them. If they still did not open their eyes, the prisoners would pour water all over them, calling it "rain." Criminal prisoners who participated in persecuting practitioners were rewarded with reduced sentences, while those who refused were punished with extended sentences.

Policeman You Jie beat one practitioner with a rubber hose until her back was completely covered in dark bruises. Another practitioner suffered an injury to her lumbar vertebra after she was taken to the No. 2 Labor Camp and tied to the Tiger Bench for over eight hours of interrogation at the Dongshan District Public Security Bureau. Another female practitioner was stripped down to her bra and underwear and whipped with ropes.
