Jiang's Faction Abuses Power and Deprives Citizens of their Rights

(Clearwisdom.net) First, it is important to make clear that Jiang's persecution of Falun Gong is completely based on lies and fabrications. The accusations he hurls upon Falun Gong are frequently used tactics in persecution. One Falun Gong book states, "Other than doing a good job with his work, a cultivator will not be interested in politics or political power of any sort; failing this, he absolutely isn't my disciple" ("Cultivation Practice is Not Politics," Essentials for Further Advancement). In this article, I want to expose some government officials' violation of the law and further expose the illegitimacy of the Jiang group's persecution of Falun Gong.

Recently, some local governments in China held public voting they claimed to be democratic. Here, I do not wish to discuss the credibility of such a claim, but in some villages in Shandong Province, government-issued documents explicitly state that Falun Gong practitioners are ineligible to vote. All villagers are given these documents to read. This method of persecution and deprivation of human rights has been a common practice since July 20, 1999. Some representatives of the People's Congress and members of the Political Committee were illegally expelled because they persisted in their belief in Falun Gong.

Does Jiang feel so insecure that he feels he has no choice but to exclude Falun Gong practitioners from the voter population? Or maybe he is not confident in the corrupt officials led by him? Otherwise why would he take such measures against Falun Gong practitioners, who take no interest in political power?

We know that citizens are endowed with certain rights by law, and they should not be considered to be participating in politics if they exercise these rights. The Criminal Law of China states deprivation of political rights applies to people who commit crimes, but the decision to deny these rights is to be made by the court. Jiang completely jumped over the court system and deprived Falun Gong practitioners of their political rights because of their beliefs, which is very unfortunate for the Chinese judicial system and the rule of law.

Article 34 of the Constitution of China states, "All citizens of the People's Republic of China who have reached the age of 18 have the right to vote and stand for election, regardless of ethnic status, race, sex, occupation, family background, religious belief, education, property status or length of residence, except persons deprived of political rights according to law."

The Law of Villager Council Structure of China also states, "Village policies and regulations as well as decisions made at village meetings should not conflict with the constitution or other national laws, and they should not violate villagers' human rights, civil rights and their right to private property."

Obviously, government officials who forbid Falun Gong practitioners to vote are violating the laws of China. Jiang's political group operates outside the law and in their attempt to eradicate Falun Gong, applies policies such as "defame their reputation, bankrupt them financially and destroy them physically" to Falun Gong practitioners, "the death of Falun Gong practitioners from beating is nothing and shall be counted as suicide; the body shall be directly cremated without investigating the person's identification." More than 1,100 Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured to death, and hundreds of thousands are illegally held in prisons and labor camps.

Recently, the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China held an investigation of government officials who violate human rights by abusing their power. Many Falun Gong practitioners appealed about the brutal persecution against them. However, Jiang's group passed down a secret order telling the judicial department not to accept lawsuits and appeals from Falun Gong practitioners. As the judicial officials put it, "We know it's wrong to reject their appeals, but we must follow Jiang's order and do this as a political assignment, because he will hold us responsible if we take Falun Gong practitioners' cases."

These facts penetrate the smokescreen of Jiang's slogans, such as "rule-by-law" and "uphold human rights," that he often advocates in the international community.

Hereby, we must make it very clear to the lawless officials who actively follow Jiang in the persecution: This persecution is completely illegitimate, and you will be punished by human laws and by heavenly laws. Jiang and some of his accomplices have already been served with lawsuits in quite a few countries around the world, and it is reasonable to conclude that the perpetrators in China will be brought to justice very soon.
