Falun Gong practitioners in the Netherlands appeal to bring the chief perpetrators in the persecution of Falun Gong to justice. On Dec. 2, 2004, a lawsuit was filed against 3 Chinese leaders on the charges of genocide and torture in the Netherlands.

Falun Gong practitioners in the Netherlands have joined the worldwide effort to bring the persecutors of Falun Gong to justice. On Dec. 2, 2004 the Dutch Falun Gong association filed a legal complaint for genocide and torture of Falun Gong practitioners since 1999 against Jiang Zemin, the former president of China, Li Lanqing, the head of the "610 Office" responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and Bo Xilai, former governer of Liaoning province and present Minister of Commerce.

The complaint is one of 44 lawsuits worldwide filed by Falun Gong practitioners. They hope to bring those responsible for the ongoing brutalities against Falun Gong in China to justice.

It is the first time in the legal history of the Netherlands that a complaint has been filed for genocide. The Dutch legal system allows for such a complaint since Dutch nationals have also been victimized.

Among the plaintiffs are two Dutch nationals who were arrested at Tiananmen Square in Beijing on Feb. 14, 2002. They were intimidated, beaten and deported by the Chinese police for being Falun Gong practitioners.

"This ongoing genocide is for nothing political, no legal reason. The whole nationwide persecution was done for only one thing: to wipe out this spiritual system [Falun Gong] from people's minds," one of the plaintiffs said.
