(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Han Rufeng, 34, was a teacher at the No. 1 Middle School of Kangjin Town in Hulan District, Harbin City. He previously suffered from late stage kidney disease and his doctor said that he didn't have much time left because of his condition. His family was mired in debt from borrowing large amounts of money to pay for his medical treatments. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1997 and his illness gradually disappeared. He was then able to return to work.

On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin's faction started persecuting Falun Gong. Police, neighborhood officers, and authorities from Han Rufeng's work unit searched and ransacked his home. In late 2002, he went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. After he returned, the police harassed and blackmailed him on a constant basis. Han Rufeng underwent tremendous stress and passed away on September 18, 2004.
