(Clearwisdom.net) Because of practicing Falun Gong, my mother, elder sister, two elder brothers, two sisters-in-law, younger sister and I all were unlawfully detained and suffered torture at the hands of the police. Among them, my elder brother Jia Yongfa (an employee of Hebei City Forestry Bureau, plant park) was tortured to death in Jiamusi City Xigemu Labor Camp in November 2001. My younger sister Jia Dongmei (a employee of Hebei City Forestry Bureau) died as a result of the being tortured on May 19, 2003. The leaders of Hebei City Forestry Bureau, Heilongjiang province, the Political and Law Committee, the Police Department and the "610 Office" are responsible for their deaths.

Since July 20, 1999, the Hebei Forestry Bureau has persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. In 2000 my sister-in-law and I went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. After we were caught and sent back we found out that my mother and my younger sister Jia Dongmei had also gone to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. We suffered many tortures including general abuse, beating, sleep deprivation, and sitting in a squatting position wearing handcuffs and shackles, for three months. Police kicked us with their military style boots and directed criminals to beat us. The guards told the criminals not to release us until we had renounced our belief in Falun Dafa. Once these criminals tried to force us to stand in the "flying the airplane" posture (Standing with one's back against the wall, one's head dropped forward, and both hands pulled up from behind.). I refused, so he beat me heavily and pulled my hair. Because I did not read the Falun Dafa books deeply enough I wrote a guarantee letter against my will. I was released. Everyone they released was forced to pay a bond of 1,000 Yuan (the authorities did not return this money to me as of the date of this writing).

Later the police came to my home to harass me and broke up my family. In January 2001, I went to the home of my younger sister. Police found that I was not home and worried that I would go to Beijing, so they arrested my sister and me. They shackled us and locked us in the corridor. We were both cold and sleepy and stood for four days. Because the police found truth-clarifying materials at our home, we were interrogated. The people of the "610 Office," Guo Shujun, Zhen Wenshan and Luo Jingyu, hung me up in handcuffs for a whole day. Police taunted me with dirty language. I lost consciousness while hanging there. I remained unconscious, I do not know how long, until someone gave me a punch that woke me up.

In order to resist the persecution, we all went on a hunger strike. As a result, six people held us down and force-fed us. They taped the process. Guo Shujun said, "We do not fear you all dying. Our superiors gave us a quota of 20 deaths. It is more than enough even if all of you die." Once at about 6 p.m., I was interrogated again. Guo Shujun, Zhen Wenshan, Chen Jiangbin and Wang Hongjiang punched me and kicked me. Zhen Wenshan Said, "Jiang Zemin has issued the order. He does not let us to take a break, you cannot take a break either." I was hung from the heating pipes. He put the electric baton on my neck and threatened, "you can go wherever you like to sue me."

After my sister and I were detained for seven months we were sentenced to one year of forced labor.

During this period my brother, Jia Yongfa, was sentenced to one year in a labor camp, but he still insisted on practicing Falun Gong. The leaders of the Forestry Bureau, fearing that he would come back, bribed the labor camp and required them to add another year to my brother's sentence. My brother went on a hunger strike to protest and was force-fed. He was seriously injured by the force-feeding and was sent to the hospital. The labor camp told his family to take him back home. After he recovered he went to back to work. One morning just as he got to work several persons from the "610 Office" arrested him again. My brother went on a hunger strike again and this time was tortured to death.

After our labor camp term was completed, four people from the local "610 Office" again arrested my sister and me. We were sent to a detention center. During this period the "610 Office" interrogated all of the Falun Gong practitioners in the jail. They tried to force them to give up practicing Falun Gong and then required everyone they released to pay 5,000 Yuan or more for bail before releasing them. The policemen extorted over 100,000 Yuan. Police ransacked practitioners' house and confiscated color TVs and VCRs. Our home was one of those hit and this time my mother, elder sister, elder brother, and sister-in-law were all arrested. My elder brother was sentenced to two years of hard labor. He is now being detained in Jiamusi Labor Camp.

We demanded to be released unconditionally. The head of "610 Office" Guo Shujun said, "We will release you if you are still alive." In April 2003 my 61-year-old mother, who had been detained for one month, became extremely emaciated. She became sick and could not get up. They feared my mother would die in the jail so they released her. I was also released, because there was no one else to take care of her. After getting out of jail, I went to the bureau many times and requested that the leaders release other Falun Gong practitioners. They always made excuses. The Party Secretary Guo Zhenqi said, "I should starve you and then we will see whether you can still practice." My sister Jia Dongmei was released after being sick for 20 days. She passed away a few days later. The leaders of the Hebei Forestry Bureau, Political and Law Committee, police department and the "610 Office" cannot shirk their responsibility for the death of my brother and sister, Jia Yongfa and Jia Dongmei.

The vice Party Secretary of the Political and Law committee of the Hebei Forestry Bureau, Sun Fa, once said he would fight Falun Gong to the end. Sun Fa now has fell into a comatose state after drinking too much.

Geng Chengtao, the chief of Hebei Forest Bureau detention center, has, since July 20, 1999 when the government began persecuting Falun Gong, directed criminals to punish Falun Gong practitioners. This included forcing them to wear handcuffs and shackles and depriving them of sleep for long periods. In 2002, Geng Chengtao was put into jail himself and sentenced to 7 years.

The head of Hebei Forestry Bureau Police Department Chen Yongquan illegally arrested Falun Gong practitioners. Now Chen Yongquan has been dismissed from his job.

The director of Plant Park in the Hebei Forestry Bureau was also responsible for the death of Jia Yongfa. On the night that Jia Yongfa was arrested, the director passed out twice.
