The Jilin provincial government estimated that 5,978 Falun Gong practitioners were illegally sentenced to prison and sent to forced labor camps in Jilin Province alone. On February 12, 2003, Zhu Guozhi said at a Provincial Judicial Administration Conference, "From 1999 to 2002, 170 Falun Gong practitioners were held at prisons in Jilin after being given unlawful sentences; 5,808 Falun Gong practitioners were sent to forced labor camps, and the total number is 5,978."

Practitioner Zhao Huanqi, the wife of Shen Jinglian, an employee of the Qiqihar City Glass Factory in Heilongjiang Province was falsely arrested twice and sent to a forced labor camp without a trial. In 1999, Mr. Shen Jinglian was diagnosed with cerebral thrombosis. After his wife was falsely arrested, Shen Jinglian suffered from grief and despair, and his condition drastically worsened. In March 2003, he suddenly collapsed and died. His beloved wife was not by his side because she was detained in a labor camp.

Liu Zhenli, a male guard at the Hongxing Farm in Songyuan City, Jilin Province illegally arrested and detained Falun Gong practitioners. He ransacked the practitioners' homes and extorted money from them. Liu Zhenli slapped the face of practitioner Mr. Xu Yangang until the Dafa practitioner lost his hearing in both ears.

My name is Zhang Guiping. I am a female Dafa practitioner in Qianjiang City, Hubei Province. In the past few years I was detained, forcibly sent to a brainwashing class and forced to pay money to the police in the form of a "fine" because I refused to give up Dafa practice. The police tortured me until my right leg became swollen to the diameter of a water barrel. After the 2003 Chinese New Year, I went to the Xiongkou Town Farm School for business. The police tracked me down and did malicious things to prevent me from making a living there. On March 20, the police came to my temporary residence and tried to take me away. Without any choice, I jumped from the second floor and broke my left leg and ankle. From then on, I was forced to walk about with a broken leg.

Mr. Lu Zhen is a Dafa practitioner from Fulaerji in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. He was sentenced to one year of forced labor for distributing Dafa truth clarification flyers. On January 20, 2001, two police officers broke into his home and forcibly took him to the Fulaerji Electric Power Police Department. They beat him brutally. Around 7:00 p.m., they took Dafa practitioner Mr. Lu Zhen to the Criminal Police Division of Fulaerji Police Department. They stripped him of all his clothes and cuffed him to a metal chair. Four or five police struck his chest and back with spiked sticks until his body was covered with lacerations and bruises. Then, they took him to the restroom and poured cold water on him and rubbed his body with snow. They tortured him until after 1:00 a.m. in the morning.

In the evening of May 12, 2003, police officers from the Wensheng Police Department in Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province arrested Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhao Delin and his wife Zhang Yuxia and took them to the Xiangping Police Station. The police put a metal helmet on Zhao Delin's head then hit his head with rubber clubs. Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhao passed out after several blows. These two practitioners are right now being held at the Yuhuang Temple Detention Center. Mr. Zhao Delin showed symptoms of severe cerebral thrombosis and Zhang Yuxia had a relapse of heart disease, but the police refuse to provide them with any medical treatment.

Lawless police officers from Yushu Township's Police Station in Dakou County, Panjin City, Liaoning Province extorted money from Dafa practitioners. In 2001, they detained Dafa practitioner Mr. Wang Suqing and his wife for eight days and extorted 20,000 Yuan* from them. On January 16, 2004, the police again abducted the couple and held them at the police station. They released the two practitioners after extorting another 5,000 Yuan from them.

Police officers including Dong Hanwei recently went to the home of practitioner Mr. Xu Lianwei and tried to extort 10,000 Yuan from him. Xu Lianwei wasn't home, so they requested money from his family. They also said, "If you don't give us the money, we'll come every day."

Dafa practitioner Ms.Xiao Xiuying from Yangqingzhuang Village, Chengguan Town, Wangdu County, Hebei Province had suffered from advanced diabetes, and Falun Dafa gave her a second life. Jiang's group forced her to give up Dafa practice by persecuting her. Xiao gave up Dafa and her health condition declined by the day. She had a relapse of diabetes and died in 2003.

On December 31, 2003, Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhou Lei from Heilongjiang Province was savagely tortured at the Wanjia Labor Camp until she couldn't walk. Four Dafa practitioners in Division Seven refused to recite labor camp policies and vows, so they were forced to squat until the afternoon. Two of the practitioners were tortured with a method called the "Big Hang Up" [There are two variations in this torture: (1) With both hands cuffed behind the back and only toes touching the ground, one is hung by a rope that is tied to metal window frames; (2) One hand of a practitioner is cuffed to one bunk bed and the other hand to another bed, and the two beds are pulled in the opposite directions. One feels extreme pain as the body is being pulled].

Zhang Tongxing, an art teacher at No. 68 Middle School in Guanli Village, Sujiatun District, Shenyang City organized students to sign their names at an exhibit created to defame Falun Dafa and promote Jiang's propaganda. He also drew a cartoon series to slander Master. On August 11, 2003, Zhang Tongxing was struck by lightening while fishing at an abandoned pond and died instantly.
