Taiwan County Mayor Speaks at an Art and Photo Display Ceremony: "Taiwan Welcomes Falun Gong" (Photo)
By Minghui.net reporter Yunqin Chung (Clearwisdom.net) A reception was held to celebrate the "Journey
of Falun Dafa" photo display and the "Collection of Current Famous
Chinese Artists' Work" exhibition being held at Nantou County Government
Library on February 10, 2004. Many important guests came to the reception.
County mayor Lin Guanghua, Vice mayor Lin Mingtian, City mayor Li Chaoqing,
County council secretary Chen Guozhong, Council member Huang Guoshu and others
attended in person and gave speeches. They praised Falun Dafa for uplifting the
moral standard and offering better health to Taiwan's people. This exhibition, which combines cultivation and art, was organized by the Taiwan Falun Dafa Association and the Australia Chinese Art Association. It will be displayed from February 10 until February 15. Ms. Dai Meiling, who provided the art collections, and County mayor Lin Guanghua cut the ribbon for the opening ceremony. Ms. Dai guided the guests through the exhibits, including the pictures of Falun Dafa spreading throughout the world. The painting collection included works of Qi Baishi, Zhang Daqian, Xu Beihong, Wu Changsuo, and others. A total of 60 current famous Chinese artists were represented in the display. This is the second stop in Taiwan. The first stop, which was at the Kending Tourist site in Pingdong County during the Chinese New Year, received many favorable comments. Ms. Dai, a Falun Gong practitioner, said this year was the 140th anniversary of the famous Chinese painter Qi Baishi. Qi's granddaughter, Qi Bingshu, is also a famous painter but is now being persecuted in China for practicing Falun Gong. She hopes to help more people pay attention to the persecution of Ms. Qi Bingshu and the thousands of persecuted Falun Gong practitioners in China and to end this brutal persecution. Lin gave a speech and highly praised Falun Gong. He said that Falun Gong is welcomed in Taiwan, which is a society of mutual respect and tolerance. Provost of Chungxing University professor Liu Zhengyi gave a speech representing the Falun Dafa Association. He said that the "Journey Of Falun Dafa" photo display let Taiwan see the how Jiang and his followers utilized enormous manpower and materials just to prevent people from believing in Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance. A native Taiwan artist, Mr. Chen, said he was lucky to see so many genuine works of famous artists. He was sad that Ms. Qi is being persecuted by the CPC for her beliefs. He felt lucky that he could freely create artwork in Taiwan and hoped that China will stop the persecution soon. Chinese version available at http://www.minghui.ca/mh/articles/2004/2/12/67251.html |
