Calgary, Canada: Practitioners Hold Candlelight Vigil to Appeal for Truth and to Bring Jiang, Luo, Liu and Zhou to Justice

(Clearwisdom.net) On February 14th, Falun Dafa practitioners in Calgary, Canada held a press conference and candlelight vigil in front of the Chinese consulate to expose the atrocities committed by Jiang Zemin and his accomplices, Luo Gan, Liu Jing, and Zhou Yongkang, who are the individuals most responsible for the systematic persecution of Falun Gong.

Recently a large number of arrests have been reported in China, including at least nine who were arrested for their role in exposing the ongoing genocide of Falun Gong to their fellow citizens in Shahe and Xingtai, two cities in China's Hubei Province. Simply for practicing Falun Gong, telling other people the facts about the persecution and refusing to renounce one's belief, practitioners have been illegally arrested and viciously tortured, with reported deaths reaching 884, as of today.

Our appealing at the consulate is to show that basic human rights and freedoms are important for all people, and that freedom of belief cannot be crushed by any power or authority.

Indeed, Falun Dafa practitioners inside China and around the world have peacefully appealed to end this persecution through clarifying the truth to the world's people; only a few individuals are relentless in escalating the persecution and propping it up with lies, fabrications, and slander. To end the atrocities and harm to human beings that characterize this modern day genocide, Jiang Zemin and his followers are named in numerous international lawsuits and charged with the most egregious of atrocities against humanity and the common good. International organizations, governments, and professionals are united with the hearts of humanity to strongly ensure that legal justice will prevail, and that there will be no country for the perpetrators to hide in.

CBC radio and CTV covered the day's events, and both were quite interested to learn that right in their own city people are inundated with Party propaganda in local Chinese language newspapers and television stations, and that the Calgary Chinese Consulate distributes anti-Falun Gong hate propaganda throughout Chinese communities and to our elected officials in the federal, provincial and municipal governments across the Prairie

Provinces. Reporters cannot believe that a single female practitioner was followed home in their own city after a consulate appeal by a Chinese man making no effort to hide the fact that he was tailing her until the practitioner got the opportunity to look him in the eye, frightening him greatly.

Canada's War Crimes Program has recently accepted a list of 45 officials who participated in persecuting Falun Gong including Jiang, Luo, Liu and Zhou. If anyone on the list attempts to enter Canada, a prompt investigation could take place, potentially resulting in refusal of visas to Canada, cancellation of their Canadian citizenship, deportation, charges and punishment based on Canada's laws governing crimes against humanity and war crimes.

On February 3, 2004, the Ontario Superior Court in Canada reached a verdict in the libel lawsuit against Pan Xinchun, the Chinese Deputy Consul General in Toronto. The judge ruled in favor of Toronto Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Joel Chipkar. The court also ordered Pan Xinchun, who failed to show up in court, to compensate for damages incurred by his libel. The plaintiff's lawyer Mr. Peter Downard commented, "This ruling sends a clear message that the promotion of China's persecution of Falun Gong will be condemned by the courts. I am hopeful this case will draw the attention to the community at large to the wrongful promotion of hatred against Falun Gong."

Finally, practitioners in Calgary would like to sternly warn the Chinese diplomats here in Calgary - Immediately stop any behavior that instigates hate and disseminates propaganda against Falun Gong. This is not allowed by law in Canadian territory!

No matter who participates in the persecution of Falun Gong, we will investigate their responsibility, no matter where on earth they are, no matter how long it may take.
