Mourning the Death of Practitioner Ms. Li Shuqin By a practitioner from China (Clearwisdom.net) I got to know Ms. Li Shuqin three years ago. She was
very kind and amiable, very diligent in her cultivation, and very strict with
herself. In particular, she exerted great effort in studying the Fa (law and
principles) and she was very good at understanding the principles of the Fa. At
the time she had already copied Zhuan Falun (the main book of Falun Dafa)
more than three times and was able to recite Zhuan Falun and some other
Dafa works by heart. The practitioners in her area were all willing to confide
in her. After her retirement she devoted all of her energies to validating the
Fa. She went out with other fellow practitioners to hang up banners and slogans,
and she went to the countryside to clarify the truth to the peasants. Her words
and deeds left a brilliant page on her path of cultivation. One practitioner began to have doubts about cultivation when her
sister was imprisoned. She lost her job and had no income, and her family
members treated her coldly. Many other practitioners shared cultivation
experiences with her, but no one could raise her spirits. When Ms. Li Shuqin
spoke with her, after only a few words she regained her vigor and plunged
herself back into the grand current of Fa rectification. There are many examples
like this one. Whenever Ms. Li Shuqin saw fellow practitioners at a standstill
because of their attachments, she would always voluntarily step forward to
explain the Fa principles to them and share her own feelings about her
cultivation experiences. As a result she would always solve the problem readily. Since July 20, 1999 Ms. Li Shuqin, together with other fellow practitioners,
compiled and made truth-clarification materials, and clarified the truth,
disregarding their own personal safety. They also delivered Teacher's new
articles and Minghui.org materials to the hands of fellow practitioners. At that
time her husband and son did not understand her, her sisters were also critical
of her, and they dared not let her stay at their homes. With tears in her eyes
she earnestly clarified the truth to her family members and continued with her
Fa-rectification work. The first time she went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to validate the Fa was
on July 21, 2000. At Tiananmen Square she shouted with aspiration "Falun
Dafa is good!" She was then arrested by police at Tiananmen Square. On the
way to the local police station she managed to escape using righteous thoughts.
In December 2001 she again went to Beijing to validate the Fa. She shouted,
"Falun Dafa is good!" to the people at Tiananmen Square. She was again
arrested. The policemen at the Qianmen Police Station tricked her into revealing
her home address. Then she was escorted onto a train and was sent back to
Changchun City with some other fellow practitioners. During the journey she
unlocked her handcuffs with a gentle push and instantly walked towards the back
of the train. However, she was discovered by the police and was taken back and
cuffed onto the luggage rack with her feet hanging in the air. When one of the
policemen found that she was being cuffed and hung up there for too long, he
released her and cuffed her with the other practitioners. Upon arriving in
Changchun City, while the policemen were talking to the director of the
neighborhood committee, she took the opportunity to escape and walked out of the
second floor of the police station righteously and nobly. When she got to
another practitioner's home she did not talk about her own experience, instead
she asked other practitioners to rush to save another practitioner that they
knew. Since the establishment of our Falun Dafa material production site, every
step we have taken has been in accordance with the requirements for Fa
rectification. Under the guidance of the veteran assistants, Fa study groups
have been set up one after another, despite the adverse circumstances. We shared
our knowledge and our cultivation experiences without any fear. Though there was
interference and danger we always studied the Fa diligently and clarified the
truth. We could always obtain Teacher's new articles and materials from the
Minghui.org website. We also used many methods to let the local residents know
about the progress of Fa rectification and the true facts about Falun Dafa.
After March 5, 2003, when the program about the truth of Falun Dafa was
broadcasted on cable television, the police began to frantically arrest Dafa
practitioners. Ms. Li Shuqin was forced to leave her home to avoid arrest. Ms.
Li Shuqin was listed as wanted on the Internet and the policemen all carried her
photo in their pockets. One day Ms. Li Shuqin stayed in an empty room belonging
to a fellow practitioner. While staying at that building she bumped into a
former colleague. Later she found out that the building was under surveillance.
Ms. Li Shuqin asked Teacher to help her and at the same time she sent forth
righteous thoughts. The next morning there was a very thick fog. Hinted by our
merciful Teacher, Ms. Li Shuqin calmly walked out of the building under the very
noses of the policemen. During the frenzied police arrests I returned to Changchun City and was
forced to rent a house. My husband was not happy with me and asked me to write
the so-called three statements promising not to practice Falun Dafa. I firmly
rejected his suggestion. Ms. Li Shuqin gave me all her support and
encouragement. She also taught me how to help my husband to accept my practice
of Falun Dafa, and gave me our Teacher's new articles and the Minghui.org weekly
issue. I was very much moved by this, and by comparison to Ms. Li Shuqin I found
that I still have a long way to go. My last contact with Ms. Li Shuqin was at the beginning of March 2003. She
gave me and another fellow practitioner the truth-clarification materials that
we needed, and we had a simple lunch together. She was very happy that day. She
told me that she was very busy, slept very little, and often missed meals. She
also told me that a new Falun Dafa material production site had been set up. She
encouraged me to do the three things well that Teacher requires of practitioners
[study the Fa, clarify the truth, and send forth righteous thoughts] That
was the last time I saw Ms. Li Shuqin. I learned later from the Minghui.org
website that she had been tortured to death at the Changchun Number Three
Detention Center. Shuqin's indomitable spirit, her voice, and her smile have encouraged me to
be more and more diligent along my path of cultivation. Please rest assured, I
