Since July 20, 1999, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Hu Gang has frequently appealed on behalf of Falun Dafa. The police later arrested him and in 2002, the Panzhihua City Court sentenced him to four years of imprisonment. He was detained in the No. 2 and No. 6 Sections of Deyang City Prison. Hu Gang has persisted in practicing Falun Dafa, refused any form of transformation or brainwashing, and has staged many hunger strikes to protest the persecution. In May 2003, Mr. Hu was transferred to the No. 2 Prison Section from the No. 6 Section to be more stringently watched. In mid-January 2004, the Jingyang District Court of Deyang City extended his term by three years.

After Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Deng Weijian from the Qingbaijiang District, Chengdu City was arrested at a Dafa materials-production site, he was sentenced to four years of prison by the Guanghan City Court. Having been subjected to severe beatings, Mr. Deng sustained many injuries, including injuries to his head and chest. He also lost one of his front teeth due to the beatings. Mr. Deng is very determined in his belief in Dafa, so the police had no way to deal with him. After being sent to Deyang City Prison, he refused to recite the prison regulations, refused to watch Dafa-slandering TV programs and refused to join in the military drills. Policemen Cui Weigang and Qiu Shen incited the common criminals to drag him across the ground. They torment practitioner Mr. Deng on a daily basis.

In mid-April of 2003, police from the Tuanjie Village Police Office in the Qingbaijiang District, Chengdu City, arrested practitioner Ms. Dong Jinzhi at home. The police tortured her so severely that she became disabled. Soon after, Ms. Dong was sent to Jintang County's 201 Hospital for medical treatment. Not long after the facts about the persecution of Don Jinzhi were exposed on the Clearwisdom website, she was arrested and taken to the Qingbaijiang Detention Center. Because Ms. Dong was rendered disabled, she cannot sit up anymore, and can only lie on the bed all day long. Under such circumstances, on October 28, 2003, the Qingbaijiang District Court sentenced Dong Jinzhi to five years of imprisonment but allowed the sentence to be served outside the prison. Six months have passed since the trial, and Ms. Dong is still detained at the Qingbaijiang District Detention Center.

Other practitioners secretly sentenced with Dong Jinzhi were Ms. Chen Guijun, who was sentenced to nine years and has since been tortured to death, Ms. Fu Sizhen, who was given an 8-year sentence, and Ms. Deng Zhongrong, who received a 7-year sentence.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Ding Fengqin, 61, is a relative of an employee working for Linqu County Silk Manufacturing. They live at the Longquan residential area in Linqu County. On January 31, 2004, Ms. Ding went to shop at the vegetable market and she clarified the facts about Falun Dafa to the vendor. Personnel from the local "610 Office"* arrested her and ransacked her home. Ms. Ding is now detained at a local detention center.

During the morning of February 13, 2004, a group of unidentified persons broke into Ms. Yang Shulan's home, forcibly took her away and left her paralyzed 93-year-old father-in-law at home without care. Yang Shulan's house was ransacked and her whereabouts are unknown. At the same time, her husband was also arrested on his way back home from a vegetable market. He was dragged into a car with his head covered and taken away.

During that whole day, more than ten plainclothes officers stayed at Ms. Yang's home and detained anyone who went to her home. They even called other practitioners and tried to dupe them into going to Ms. Yang's home. They left when it got dark.

In June 2003, personnel from Chengdu City's "610 Office" arrested Ms. Zhu Xia and sent her to the Xinjin County Brainwashing Class. During the past eight months in detention, Ms. Zhu Xia has suffered insidious tortures and mental persecution. She was not allowed to sleep for a long time. Due to the long-term torture, Zhu Xia suffered a mental collapse. However, Ms. Zhu is still detained at the brainwashing class and even now, she continues to be tortured.
