My Life in a Chengdu Prison With Huang Lisha
(Clearwisdom.net) As I look at Huang Lisha's picture, my heart is trembling
and the life we shared in the prison appears in front of me again. One day in August 2002, at about ten o'clock, I was interrogated and tortured
for more than ten hours in the Chengdu City Supo Police Station. Later I was
sent to the Chengdu City Detention Center. About an hour later, another Dafa
practitioner was sent in and we smiled at each other with our hands pressed
together. We did not exchange names, so we called each other "anonymous." I
looked at her innocent, kind and pretty face and thought she was 16. I later
learned that she was over 30. We started hunger strikes the same day to protest
and ask for an immediate and unconditional release. Nobody paid any attention to
us for the first five days. On the sixth day, the police started to force-feed
us every day. We always resisted the persecution. The police and prisoners
always started with her because she looked young. When this happened, I would
rush to her side and try to stop the police. When it was my turn, she would try
to stop them too. Officers Huang Wenzhen and Liu Lijuan yelled and cursed us for
this. We encouraged each other and clarified the truth to the prisoners. We told
them to never help the police in persecuting Dafa practitioners because there
will be serious consequences. Gradually, many prisoners understood the truth and were sympathetic. Many of
them tried to avoid participating in force feeding us. When they were forced to
do it anyway, they could not do it with cruelty. The police transferred Shasha
(Huang Lisha) to the room next door in order to separate and stop us from
clarifying the truth together. Every time I heard her being force-fed while
struggling and screaming on the floor, I shouted from the other room to show her
my support. We would then receive beatings and curses. The police would silence
us by sealing out mouths with tape, putting dirty mops in our mouths, or
handcuffing and torturing us. Every day went like that. The hunger strike went on for 15 days. The police used soymilk mixed with tap
water to feed me. That caused me to have diarrhea and severe dehydration. They
then dragged me to the medical care office where they used intravenous
force-feeding. I met Shasha in the hallway and she was facing the same
persecution. We still smiled with our hands pressed together to encourage each
other. On our way to the medical office, we shouted "stop persecuting Falun Dafa"
and other righteous principles. During this time, I met Ms. Du Peiyang, a practitioner who went to Beijing
with me in 2000 to appeal and was later illegally detained in the Chengdu City
Jiuru Village prison. Du Peiyang had been a medical doctor in Chengdu City Steel
Factory. She was also getting the intravenous force-feeding because of her
hunger strike. Every day there were more than ten practitioners being force- fed
in this way. The doctor in charge, Fu Suhua, was so exhausted that she looked
unhealthy and skinny and was always furious. But, she still would not let anyone
go home. More than twenty days passed, I was still having diarrhea and my life was in
danger. They put handcuffs on me and locked me in a room that was designated for
persecuting practitioners on the 4th floor of the Chengdu City
Qingyang District Third People's Hospital. Here I met Shasha for the third time.
She stayed on bed number 1. Number 3 was a practitioner named Wang Meixin. Wang
was 16 years old. Her parents worked in Panzhihua Iron and Steel Company in
Sichuan Province. She studied in the Sichuan Province Mianyang City Art School.
Wang had gone to a friend's house during the summer break and was arrested half
an hour after she arrived at the house. Her mother was also a practitioner and
is now detained in Sichuan Nanmusi Female Labor Camp. Shasha was sent here for "emergency rescue" a few days before because her
life was in danger due to the barbaric force-feeding. They cuffed one of our
legs to one end of the bed at all times, and from 9 pm to 8 am one of our hands
were cuffed to the bed too. We lay in bed all day long except for getting up to
urinate. I stayed there for a month. The first night, with my leg and hand being
cuffed, it was so painful and my ankle swelled up bigger than the cuff. I yelled
the whole night. The next morning I had a dark purple bruise when they took off
the handcuff. I asked them why they were so cruel and they said this was to
prevent people from running away. They told me that because I was old and they
had run out of large handcuffs, they only cuffed one of my legs as a "courtesy." We were under surveillance 24 hours a day. The room opposite ours was for
male practitioners. They received worse torture than we did. They were cuffed to
their beds 24 hours a day and were not allowed to leave the bed to urinate. The
hospital put urine catheters on them. We always raised our voices and shouted to
protest when we heard the male practitioners screaming due to the beatings.
Later on the police shut all the doors to prevent us from hearing anything. We
were injected with 5-6 bottles of an unknown drug and were dizzy and unconscious
all day long. One practitioner's brain was thus damaged. Every time they
injected us, we struggled and fought back to stop them and ask them to release
us unconditionally. Because of this, they had to try many times to position the
needles correctly. As our veins became harder and harder to find, they had to
cuff us into a T-shape on the bed in order to look for veins for injection. One time Wang Meixin broke a bottle of liquid because she was struggling in
great pain. A male doctor named Xu, who was over 40 years old and from the
Chengdu City Detention Center, was serving in the hospital temporarily. Xu
forced a urine catheter in Wang and cuffed her in T-shape for seven days. We all
cried and begged Xu not to do that because Wang had broken her back and there
was a big bump on her back. It would really hurt her if she had to lie down on
her back. Xu ignored us. The young Wang Meixin was screaming painfully everyday.
Until the 7th day, Xu asked Wang to admit it was her fault that the
bottle was broken; then Xu took off the urine tube and switch back to cuffing
only one hand and one leg. Thirty days passed, Shasha was so very weak that she could not get off the
bed to urinate. She could not see or hear clearly either. She often urinated on
the bed and did not have any other pants to change into. I did not have any
clothes to change and couldn't wash my face and legs for more than a month
either. I begged them to change the bed sheet for Shasha. After scolding me for
a while, they finally did change the sheet. Shasha had no pants to wear and they
inserted a urine catheter in her. Her blood vessels were so thin due to the long
term intravenous force-feeding that they could not find any veins on her hand,
so they put the needle in her foot. To prevent her from kicking the needle off,
they cuffed both her hands and legs into the T-shape again. Even so, the needle
and the urine catheter still fell off all the time and the bed was soaked with
the IV solution and urine. They kept on putting the needle and the tube back on,
and Shasha was moaning in pain even when she was not conscious. Ten more days
passed, and one day between Oct 9 and 11, 2002, the doctor in the prison found
Shasha dead, with a lot of blood on her back. They quickly took her body away
and cremated it. This kind-hearted girl was thus killed by Jiang's followers. Wang Meixin went on a hunger strike for more than 50 days and was detained
for a few months after that. She was sent back to Panzhihua in Jan 2003. Pan Xiaojiang, 39, was a Falun Gong practitioner and a staff member of the
Nanchong City Middle People's Court. She used to be forced to lie on TV to
slander Dafa when she was arrested for appealing in Beijing. She was later
brainwashed in Sichuan Zizhong City Nanmusi Female Labor Camp. When her kidney
condition got worse, she was released early. In Feb 2002, Pan Xiaojiang was
arrested by the Chengdu City Baiguolin Police Station and was sentenced to two
years of forced labor in March 2003. When she was sent to Nanmusi Labor Camp for
physical examination on her kidneys, they found a three inch lump on her kidney.
She was sent back to the police station the same day. The Baiguolin police
station did not want to pick her up from the labor camp and would not sign her
release. She was finally released 6 months later. However, the police followed
her and arrested every practitioner she contacted. Because she insisted on
practicing Dafa, her husband divorced her and took her son with him. Now she
does not have any place to live. Pan Xiaojiang and Wang Meixin also witnessed
Shasha being tortured to death by police. I was later sent to the Nanmusi Labor Camp. They sent me home because I had a
severe heart condition. I was also under 24-hour surveillance. The local police
station often came to bother me and try to brainwash me. I had to cancel my home
phone because it was tapped. Liu Lijuan is the Captain of the middle team (of prisoners). She was in
charge of room 24 in area 11 in the Chengdu City Detention Center. Practitioners
Wan Meixin, Pan Xiaojiang, Zhang Yuchuan (an engineer), Xie Xianzhi (a teacher
from the Nanchong Petroleum College), Ju Xiuying, Luo Yingjie (a 72-year-old
retired elementary school teacher), Rong Lianfang, Wu Huizhen (she owned a
business in Deyang City), Liu Hui (an outstanding elementary school teacher),
Tian Qiongzhao, Liu Ying, Wang Qin and a few other practitioners used to be
detained in this room in area 11. Currently the Chengdu City Detention Center is illegally holding four to five
hundred Dafa practitioners. This detention center was remodeled and is able to
hold thousands of people. Before one reaches the third iron door, there are
already 12 cellblocks. It is unknown how many cells are behind the third iron
door. Each cellblock is a 2-floor building with 24 cells. Every cell is about 40
square meters including a toilet and bathroom. They packed every room with 20-30
people. There was no fan during the summer. When it got really hot, a big piece
of ice was placed on the floor during the daytime to cool it down. At night, the
room became a water jail, so I had blisters on my feet for more than half a
year. It was very painful and itchy. Many others had arthritis all over their
bodies. When it got really cold in winter, they provided hot water from 6 p.m.
for half an hour for everyone to shower. Other times of the year it was just
cold water. If they found practitioners doing the exercises, the police would
beat and scold us. The police would also punish everyone in the room (including
non-practitioners) to stay awake overnight. They did this to make other
prisoners hate Falun Gong. The following is a partial list of the police officers in the Female Second
Squadron of the Chengdu City Detention Center: 1. Leng (family name): Captain of the female second brigade, also known as
the "Head Demon." She forbade practitioners exercising and asked prisoners in
the same room to spit on practitioners. One of the staff said that the
practitioners were kind and refused to do so. This person was forced to write
the prison rules ten times and then was fired. 2. Liu Lijuan: Captain of the female second squadron, also known as "Demon
Number One." She often beat and scolded practitioners. She put dirty mops (used
to wipe the floors) into practitioners' mouths, and then sealed their mouths
with tape, kicked the practitioners, took away practitioners' hand-copied Dafa
articles, and force-fed practitioners. 3. Huang Wenzhen: She used to kick and beat practitioner Ms. Wu Huizhen.
Huang's fingernail fell off right after she beat Wu. One day in 2002, after
Huang beat a practitioner, she had a car accident and broke her arm. She often
took away our hand-copied Dafa articles and force-fed us. She brutally tortured
Huang Lisha. 4. He Zhonghui: Known as the "Dark Demon." She constantly force-fed Wang
Meixin through her nose and caused Wang to fall from second floor breaking her
back. She was punished with one month less bonus. 5. Xing Jinjin, over 20 years old, known as "Ghost Number One." She was very
sneaky and vicious. She often asked practitioners to take off their clothes to
check whether they had any Dafa articles. She often beat, scolded and physically
punished practitioners. 6. Yuan Jing, "Ghost Number Two," worked closely with "Ghost Number One" to
persecute practitioners. 7. Li Rong, over 20. Her father was the director of the detention center. She
often slandered and scolded practitioners. 8. Du Chunmei knocked out practitioner Tao Juhua's teeth. 9. Zhu Lina, over 20. She often sneaked around to check who was doing the
exercises and reported them to get credit for it. She often stirred up conflicts
between prisoners and practitioners in order to intensify the persecution. Zhu
got what she deserved; she was hit by a car in Aug 2003 and has not yet been
able to return to work. 10. Fu Suhua, the medical doctor in the prison and was in charge of the
medical affairs. Her permission was needed to release very ill practitioners. Fu
thus took a lot of bribes and she never easily let go of any practitioner. 11. Luo Ying, medical doctor in the prison. She was over 20. 12. Li Qing, over 30. 13. Chen Rong 14. Wu (first name unknown) 15. Cheng Li, Assistant Captain of the female second large team. 16. Guo Sha, over 20, known as "Demon Number Two", she was very cruel. She
poured cold water on practitioner Pan Xiaojiang on a cold winter day. Pan was
soaked and had nothing to change. Pan had a high fever plus headache and body
pain that night; her fingers were all frozen and appeared purple. Police Liu
Lijuan claimed Pan was pretending to be crazy and dragged her to the doctor.
They ended up leaving her near the air intake for half an hour before taking her
in for a cardiogram. They sent her back with some drugs and dragged her upstairs
because "she walked too slowly". They put Pan in Area 11 room 24 (controlled by
Liu Lijuan) and would not let her to lie down. They made Pan sit on the floor
and deprived her of sleep. They did not care how weak she was at that time.
