Former Construction Bank Department Manager Chen Guanghui Sentenced to an Eight Year Prison Term

Mr. Chen Guanghui is 38 years old. After graduating from Nanjing University, he began working for the People's Construction Bank of China as branch manager, and as the vice chief of the computer section at the Lianyungang City branch. He worked diligently, and he gladly helped others. Because of these qualities, he became a recognized role model in the banking system.

Chen Guanghui started practicing Falun Gong in 1995. Thereafter, he practiced eagerly, and he adhered to higher standards. In order to help people with predestined relationships who lived in remote areas of China learn Falun Gong, he often spent his wages on purchasing tape recorders, video recorders, and introduction literature. He has been to many cities to introduce Falun Gong including Xuzhou, Yancheng, Huaiyin, Guanyun, Guannan, Xinpu, Donghai, and Lianyungang.

Around July 20, 1999 Chen Guanghui appealed to the Nanjing provincial government to let people know the truth about Falun Gong so that they would not be poisoned by the Jiang regime's lies. After he returned to Lianyungang City, he was suspended by his company. In October 1999 the people in charge of his workplace asked him to repent on television for practicing Falun Gong, but he sternly refused. Afterwards, in December, the Lianyungang City Public Security Bureau illegally detained him, and they sentenced him to one and a half years of reeducation through forced labor.

Mr. Chen was released after his term was completed. He was then employed by a Beijing computer joint venture and earned a high salary. He spent all of his income, apart from necessities, validating Dafa and clarifying the truth to others. Unfortunately, his truth-clarification material production site in Beijing was reported in June 2001, and Chen Guanghui was arrested. He was then sent back for interrogation by the Lianyungang City Public Security Bureau. On June 21, 2001, during his interrogation at Southern sub-District local police station of Xinpu Public Security sub-Bureau in Lianyungang City, Chen walked away with his righteous thoughts. Later, the Ministry of Public Security issued a nationwide warrant for his arrest.

Chen Guanghui suddenly disappeared during the 6^th World Chinese Businessman's Convention that was held in the Nanjing international exhibition center. None of his family members or friends knew his whereabouts. Based on an illegal written transaction made by Chen Guanghui's former employer, Chen Guanghui was again detained on September 10, 2001, and he was arrested on September 16, 2001. One year later the Nanjing City Baixia District People's court sentenced Chen Guanghui to eight years in prison.
