Report on the Persecution of Practitioner Ms. Zhang Yulian in a Hefei City Psychiatric Hospital
By Zhang Yulian
(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Zhang Yulian, and I am forty years old. I
have a college degree and used to work in the Microprocessor Office of the
Control Department in Hefei City Steel Enterprise Company in Anhui Province.
Nobody in my family, including myself, has any history of psychiatric disorders.
I refused to give up practicing Falun Gong, so I was sent to a brainwashing
class for three months on July 27, 2001. Afterwards the authorities sent me
directly to a forced labor camp for one and a half years. They put me in the
Second Team in Hefei Female Labor Camp of Anhui Province on August 3, 2001. It was during dusk on either August 8th or 9th when six
guards in the labor camp took me to Section Six of the Hefei Fourth People's
Hospital in Anhui Province, a psychiatric hospital. A doctor there gave me an injection that night and transmitted some fluids
into my body. I do not know exactly what drug they used, but afterwards I felt
nauseous, had a headache, and lost consciousness. I woke up several days later
and all I could remember was that while I was unconscious, I was shocked once
near my temple with an electric needle, force-fed once through my nose, and was
also tied up at one point. The labor camp did not notify my family until one and a half months later,
saying that I had become schizophrenic, but had later recovered. They even let
my family members visit me. Before this, my family was not allowed to visit me
even on the visiting days. My family members were very upset and wanted to take
legal action against them for detaining me in the labor camp. At this point, the
labor camp said that what I had was not a mental disorder, instead, they claimed
that I merely had similar symptoms, so they claimed that they could not release
me prematurely. When I was in the hospital, a staff member of the labor camp came to find out
what my thoughts were. Once he inquired about my understanding of Dafa. I told
him: "Falun Dafa is great." They said: "If this is what you think, then you
cannot go home." Our conversation ended there. Later, people from the labor camp
came again and told me that they could not keep me any longer, and asked me to
call my husband to come and take me home. My family members negotiated with the labor camp and my employer for my
medical and future living expenses. Eventually, my employer paid all the medical
expenses and provided me with monthly living expenses. I was finally released to
my home on December 11, 2001. The doctor in charge: Xiong Zulun The nurse in charge: Xue Yang |
