Cases of Brutal Persecution in Gaoyang Labor Camp

Chen Yali, a Beijing Falun Dafa practitioner, was steadfast in her belief in Falun Dafa during her detention in the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp. As a result, the policemen there beat her with electric batons. Angered by her refusal to give up the practice, they continued the torture by dislocating her arms, then pulling and dragging her by her dislocated arms in an attempt to force her to give up her belief.

Ms. Cui is a sixty-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. Because she refused to give up her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, policemen persecuted her for over two months using various methods of torture including beating her with electric batons, twisting the flesh of her chest, legs, and feet with pliers, pouring hot pepper powder into her eyes, nose, and mouth, whipping her with pieces of wicker, kicking and punching her, etc.

Wu Shouzhi, a Dafa practitioner from Dongmao Township, Chicheng County, Hebei Province, declared her determination to uphold her belief in Falun Dafa in November 2003. As a result, the head of the Second Women's Brigade, Officer Duan, along with other female guards, drug her into the torture chamber and beat her. They beat her so brutally that it drove Wu to near-mental collapse, and she could no longer take care of herself. This mistreatment even caused her to eat and drink human waste from toilets. Despite her serious mental state, she was handcuffed to her bed twenty-four hours a day, and was beaten every day by a convicted drug addict who was instructed to monitor her. The guards claimed that she was only pretending to be insane, so they refused to send her to the hospital for treatment. She has been handcuffed to her bed for more than three months since. At Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp, basic human rights have been disrespected and trampled upon.

Practitioner Wang Chunmei from Tangshan City, Hebei Province has also been persecuted for over three months, from April to July of 2003, because she is determined to uphold her practice of Falun Dafa. During that period of time, a few police officers together with seven other accomplices continuously persecuted her by subjecting her to brainwashing and torture during the daytime, and dragging her to the open area to beat her up at night. Failing to shake her belief, they brought in snakes and scorpions to bite her.

Wu Shuhua, a fifty-six-year-old Dafa practitioner from Huaian County, was persecuted for the same reason. At 7:00 p.m. one day in November 2002 seven police officers dragged her to an open area to torture her. They nailed two metal rings deep into the ground on both sides of her body, then handcuffed her arms to the two rings and forced her to sit up with her legs stretched. Then they began beating her. At the same time, they shocked her with five electric batons, and continued kicking and beating her. When the guards were exhausted, they went to drink alcohol and eat. They tortured her from 7:00 p.m. in the evening to 4:00 a.m. in the morning the next day. After she was dragged back, Ms. Wu looked deformed. Her face was terribly swollen, her ears were bleeding due to the policemen's stomping, her lips were completely distorted, and her back had been beaten so badly that she couldn't walk for more than two weeks. It was extremely sad to witness such brutal persecution.

On another occasion, the police kept Li Wenping, a practitioner in his 50s from Zhangjiakou City, deprived of sleep for eight consecutive days. The police, along with drug offenders in the labor camp, took turns monitoring him and preventing him from sleeping.

A few practitioners, including Li Jinling from Baoding, Liu Yanxiang from Tangshan, and Ji Shujun from Chende, suffered similar beatings and torture by electric batons. Moreover, policemen even tried to bury them alive. They dumped dirt on the practitioners' bodies and covered them up to their chests. The practitioners were almost suffocated to death.

There have been countless cases of brutal persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in the Gaoyang Labor Camp, Hebei Province. The horrendous tortures are occurring every day against Falun Gong practitioners, and against humanity.

No matter how brutal the persecution, our determination to practice Dafa will never be shaken. All of us are ordinary Falun Gong practitioners who, before practicing Falun Gong, suffered from many illnesses -- some could not even live on their own. After we started Falun Dafa practice, we became healthy people again, without needing any medicine for eight or even nine years. We have clearly benefited tremendously from Falun Dafa. We sincerely hope that all sentient beings will wake up, be able to tell good from evil, and understand the truth. All together, let us suppress and stop the evil persecution.
