I am a Dafa practitioner from Hunan Province. I was sentenced to two and half years of forced labor in 2000 because I was reported to the police for distributing Dafa pamphlets. I was freed on June 29, 2003. In the evening of September 7, the local "610 Office"* head named Li, his assistant and several deputies from the local police station abducted me from my home to the "610 Office."

As soon as we arrived at the "610 Office" the police station chief started beating me and forcefully handcuffed me. I refused to cooperate with them, so they beat and dragged me into the police station with me yelling out "Falun Dafa is good." They told me, "If you keep yelling, we will keep on treating you this way. We will beat the heck out of you!" After we got to the police station, they started beating me and dragging me until they became tired. I finally passed out from their torture. They then hung me up with my arm cuffed to the windowsill and continued beating me for more than an hour. Finally they lowered me down and forced me to sit in a chair for the next 8 days, all the while still cuffed to the window. They told me, "If you refuse to acknowledge your 'crime', we will keep you cuffed like this." The official named Li from the "610 Office" tried to use various tactics to either force or lure me to cooperate with them. He said, "I will treat you just like this. I am telling you, no means are too severe to use against Falun Gong practitioners. There is no way for you to sue us, and if we beat you to death we simply count that as suicide. Let's see who has the power."

I continued to send forth righteous thoughts during this time, and seized every opportunity to clarify the facts about Falun Gong with anyone that I came across, including some police. I said to Teacher in my heart, "Teacher, the sentient beings, friends and relatives back home are all waiting for me to save them. I must not go to prison again. I must get out to save people." I asked for Teacher to strengthen my righteous thoughts. I continued to send forth righteous thoughts and recite Teacher's words,

During the evening while they prepared to transfer me to the county detention center, I took the opportunity of the handcuff-free period during dinner. I sent forth righteous thoughts with unwavering faith in the power of Dafa. I then solemnly told the guard on duty, "Freeze," and told the other two guards sitting near me and at the doorway, "You two, don't move." I then walked out calmly. I was more than twenty yards out of the police station before I heard them yelling, "So and so escaped." I again rejoined the effort to save sentient beings under Teacher's guidance.

My thoughts after this incident:

First of all one must let go the attachment to life and death. It is very crucial for us to have every thought based in the Fa. For example, when the thugs tried to handcuff me and hang me up from behind my back, I had a thought, "It could be very painful when they hang me up from the back." As soon as I had that thought, they immediately came to me and held up my cuffed arms behind my back, and it hurt very much. I realized right away that my thought was not right. I thought, "I should not be afraid of being hung up from behind. If I do not have the fear of death, then I am not afraid of anything. How can I be afraid of being hung up from behind?" I kept on sending forth righteous thoughts, and ask Teacher. As soon as I established my righteous thoughts the thugs stopped and let me go.

After I left the police station, I sometimes forgot that I was a Dafa practitioner while I was chased by the police. Later I realized that as a practitioner, I must resolutely remember that I am a Dafa practitioner, otherwise the evil would exploit the gap caused by my shortcomings.

Throughout the persecution, every thought must be based on the Fa. After giving up the attachment to life and death, and the fear of death, evil and torture, one may ask for Teacher to strengthen him. We should endure to the best of our ability and truly deny the old forces' arrangements. If we can accomplish that in our actions, then we definitely can succeed.
