Every Person Is My Relative -- Clarifying the Truth to the Police and Officials in My Neighborhood

(Clearwisdom.net)

Preface

Teacher tells us,

"Every person in the entire world was at one point part of my family, including the worst people, or else they'd have no chance to be a human being during this time. What happened in history is what they have gone through and what they chose for themselves. The most despicable are the old forces. They dare to massacre my people at will since they don't belong to them. What's held in Master's heart are all the people there are." ( Explaining the Fa During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference)

"When it comes to human beings you should be kind, and when it comes to the evil beings you should purge them. As far as those policemen, they weren't aware, and they were being controlled. If you don't handle it well, then when they treat you evilly they aren't rational, and you'll suffer losses while the conflicts intensify, so you should try to avoid the losses." (Explaining the Fa during the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference)

"I'm telling you, just treat all beings with compassion, and just clarify the facts to people with compassion, and you will be safeguarding Dafa's dignity, and you'll be able to safeguard Dafa's dignity." (Teaching and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference)

During this persecution, many policemen and neighborhood administrators have been playing the part of persecutor against Falun Dafa. When they show up to enforce some wrong instructions from their superiors, some of our fellow practitioners feel aggrieved because their legal rights have been violated. We have been influenced by the communist philosophy of class struggle, and although we refuse to do what they force us to do, we have an attachment to fighting or at least an inclination to disobey, which usually causes an unpleasant confrontation and gives the evil factors a pretext to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. In addition, it weakens our righteous thoughts.

In fact, every situation can be viewed positively or negatively. If we consider problems from the positive side, our positive mindset will move what happens in a good direction, especially when we utilize our powerful righteous thoughts. For example, if they come to harass us, we don't need think about how they are going to treat us, because we are dominant, and they don't have even a little bit of power to defeat us. We are not supposed to recognize the part that the old forces arranged for them to play. Since Teacher has told us to save people from the deceitful propaganda, whenever they show up in front of us it is a chance for them to be saved. They are not my enemies but my relatives, and are worth looking after. Actually their original, true natures are eager to hear the truth. Considering the problem this way, we are able to tell them the facts with a tolerant mindset.

Being indomitable and firm but gentle, with our compassion we can melt the evil factors that manipulate people, saving those that can be saved. That is a way to completely deny the old forces' intentions.

Below are stories that I heard in sharing experiences with my fellow practitioners. In these stories, the "I" does not mean only "me," because it represents our wisdom as a group.

Stories of Falun Gong Practitioners Clarifying the Truth to the Police and Neighborhood Administrators in China

1. A policeman's Falun Dafa book is "taken away" by his fellow officer

One time I went to appeal and was sent back under escort by local policeman A. In the detention center, I happily told the facts about Falun Gong to the officer who interrogated me. He completely accepted the truth and told me when I was released, "Remember to bring me two books next time." Later I gave him two Falun Dafa books.

Policeman A took me back with him, and I heard that the authorities fined him fifty Yuan because I had appealed. After that he kept checking up on me, so I took every chance to clarify the truth to him and gradually removed his resentment towards Falun Gong. He came to agree with me and later told me that he had bought a bound volume of The Great Consummation Way of Falun Dafa. His fellow officer took it away, however, so I promised to give him another one. Hearing this, he was overcome with joy.

One day I happened to meet the officer who had taken away the book. When I asked him where he was heading, he replied, "I am going to study the Fa." No wonder someone told me that the policeman claimed he already read the book eight times!

2. "Come to see me if you think of it, and bring some tasty food"

One day, policeman B drove me home instead, so I gladly talked to him on the way. Eventually he said to me pleasantly, "Come to see me if you think of it, and bring some tasty food." On two different occasions he mentioned that he was on duty in the station at night. So one night I took some fruit and went to talk with him. Of course, I took advantage of the opportunity to tell him the facts about Falun Gong and give him the books. A few days later I wrote him a letter in which I encouraged him to treasure this opportunity when Falun Dafa is spreading all over the world.

3. "I need a 'full version' too. Please write me a note."

One day policemen A and C came to talk to me at my home. When I gave A the new bound volume he had asked for, he put it carefully into his bag. That night policeman C called me to ask for a "full version" too. Because he had once shown me a copy of Zhuan Falun in his office, I asked, "Where is your new book?" He replied, "My wife keeps it to read." Then he added, "Please write me a note." I realized it was because I had given officer A a note telling him not to mark in the book, to read the book from the beginning to the end, and to make sure to understand the part about removing karma. Therefore, I gave policeman C a new book with a note. He was so happy that he called me "Teacher." I told him, "Watch out--We only have one Teacher. He is Master Li."

One night I had a dream in which I saw I was waiting for my son to come home. Later I told policeman C about my dream. He said, "That's strange. You don't have a son." I replied, "I think it's strange, too." Then he smiled and understood that I considered him as I would my own son.

Another day policeman C was asking his fellow officers to dinner to celebrate his birthday. I kept the day in mind and sent him a Falun Gong exercise VCD as a gift. He examined it with admiration.

4. Telling the truth to the troupe that performed a slanderous show

The neighborhood office gave me two tickets to a play. In the theater I found the show was created to defame Falun Gong, so I tore up the tickets and left right way. After discussing the situation with two fellow practitioners, we went backstage the next day to talk to the troupe manager. When we asked him politely how truthful the show was, he replied frankly, "It is all fake." We gave him a packet full of truth-clarifying materials and told him, "This is the truth. What you are doing is harmful to yourself and the viewers." Shaking our hands, he extended his appreciation and promised to read it. Later, when I told policeman A what had happened, he was worried for my safety and asked, "Did they call the police to report you?" "No," I replied, "Because we were courteous, they were polite, too."

5. The truth comes out after a policeman drinks wine

I was arrested and jailed in a detention center because I took in several college students who had gone to appeal. Someone reported me to the authorities, but he realized the truth after reading the materials I gave him. Later their college president bought dinner for the police officer in charge of their interrogation. After drinking several glasses of wine, the truth came out, and he said, "In fact, I don't want to jail you here a single day. I wish I could set all of you guys free, but I don't have the power. I am a state machine." "We are not dealing with state machines," I replied to him, "and in my view, you are a truthful man, a regular person. We can be friends." I visited him again to retrieve my ID after being released. He was pretty happy to take all of the materials that I brought him.

6. "I always treat you as my relatives and friends"

At 2 a.m. one day during a "sensitive" period, policeman A called me, "Are you at home? What are you doing?" I replied, "I am sleeping." He asked, "Are you going to Tiananmen?" I said, "Why?" He said, "I am relieved as long as you are at home. I won't go to your place." So I told him, "Actually I don't treat you as police, but as my relatives and friends." He replied quickly, "I have never treated you as an enemy either." The next day he claimed he had a headache because he could not sleep. They stopped checking up on me like this after a while.

One time the police political commissar himself drove me home and asked for my phone number to call me at night when he was on duty in the station. As expected, he gave me a call before I went to bed and claimed he would make another one in the morning. Because I needed to read the books and do the sitting meditation, I unplugged my phone. After breakfast, policeman C knocked on my door because their political commissar had failed to reach me on the phone. He asked several times, "Are you at home?" I replied, "No, I am not." He was laughing when I opened the door to let him in. As I was explaining the truth to him, policeman A was knocking on my door for the same purpose, so I opened door to talk to them together.

By the time they left, I told policeman A, "I'll call you if they come to arrest me. The People's Police are supposed to protect the people, right?" He responded immediately, "No, please don't. In that case I might be arrested too." I was laughing and asked them, "If the good people are afraid of being arrested by bad guys, won't these bad guys be even more crazy?" Since then I always tell them to be good cops, because good cops are for protecting good people and arresting bad guys. In addition, I warned them not to listen to the corrupt people who make them do bad deeds by threatening them with layoffs, fines and dismissal.
