The Death of a Mayor - A True Story Told by a Policeman

(Clearwisdom.net) In an article published by Clearwisdom.net "A Chinese Policeman: 'Falun Gong Practitioners Are All Splendid People?'" (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2003/11/26/42590.html) a policeman talked about a story of the fast recovery of two Falun Gong practitioners from serious diseases, which the policeman witnessed. Four and a half years later, what happened to the two characters in the story? Based on some details, I found the people who were involved. One of them was an older lady, whose story was published recently in a Clearwisdom.net article ("In Only Three Days, My Hunched Back of Twenty Years Became Straight," http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2004/2/12/45033.html). The other one was a young man named Zhang Ziqiang, an employee of a company in Liuzhou City. On December 28, 2000, after Jiang's regime persecuted Falun Gong for one and a half years, he died of leukemia at the age of 30.

In early 1998, then 28-year-old Zhang Ziqiang was diagnosed with leukemia and was hospitalized in the Municipal Hospital. Various treatments did not help him, and his health deteriorated rapidly. In order to treat his illness, both his company and family were deep in debt. Nevertheless, there was no hope that he could be cured. He was sent back home to spend his last days. His doctors predicted that he could live for another month at most.

Zhang's sister's coworker, who is a Falun Gong practitioner, came to visit Zhang and gave him a copy of Zhuan Falun. She told him to read the book, it was his last hope, and Falun Dafa might save him.

Zhang Ziqiang read and studied the book carefully. In one week he could sit upright in his bed, and was able to walk one month later. A half-year later, he was as healthy as before.

After Jiang's regime began to persecute Falun Gong in July 1999, Zhang Ziqiang stopped practicing Falun Gong. He stopped studying the Falun Dafa books and practicing the exercises. Instead, he began to purchase lottery tickets and buy stock. Noticing Zhang's change, his mother, who doesn't practice Falun Gong, tried to convince him to resume practicing, since she knew for sure that it was Falun Gong that saved his life. Nobody would ever know what Zhang thought at that time. But one thing was sure: He stopped practicing Falun Gong. In September 2002, Zhang's leukemia reoccurred, and he died three months later.

I stopped by at that policeman's home and told him what I knew. He paused for a while and then said, "It was anticipated. In fact there were many true stories out there, but people do not believe them. Only insiders know what's going on."

The policeman added, "Among the Falun Gong practitioners I knew, the stories of those two impacted me most. The stories of their recoveries were legendary, but they were true, and their neighbors saw it with their own eyes."

The policeman continued, "We all know that Falun Gong can cure diseases. In Liuzhou City, most of the Falun Gong practitioners began to practice Falun Gong because they had serious and hard to cure illnesses, and most of them cured their diseases by practicing Falun Gong. It was a fact, and nobody disputes it. But, what really shocked and frightened us was not just Falun Gong being able to cure diseases."

"Then what is it?" I asked, puzzled.

"Do you know why Song Fuming is dead?"

Song Fuming was the former deputy mayor of Liuzhou who was promoted to mayor of Nanning City later. He was young and had great potential. Song died suddenly and it was a big story in Liuzhou.

The policeman continued, "He died on July 25, 1999, the 5^th day of the persecution of Falun Gong. He not only slandered Falun Gong in public, but also cursed Master Li frequently. There were many practitioners who warned him not to do so, and told him that Master Li was a good person, and he would receive karmic retribution if he cursed Master Li. But Song didn't believe it and declared in public: Let him give me the karmic retribution. That very evening, the healthy Mayor Song died unexpectedly, and there was no warning at all.

"Everybody was talking about the cause of his death, and only we insiders know that he was too arrogant."

All of a sudden I understood what he said, "People who practice Falun Gong are intelligent people."
