"Being a Good Person" and "Validating the Fa"

(Clearwisdom.net) When I discussed with fellow practitioners about how to clarify the truth well, some practitioners believed that doing a superb job in his or her work in this ordinary society was the best way to clarify the truth and validate the Fa. A Dafa disciple should, of course, do well in his work and validate the Fa with his actions or words. However, it is not completely right for a practitioner to consider that he has validated the Fa and clarified the truth just because he has done well in his work and has harmonized his surroundings, and that all his neighbors or colleagues consider him "a good person." Personally I think this understanding is lopsided and it indicates that the practitioner is only staying at the level of being a good person. While being a good person, a practitioner should also clarify the truth, especially in the environment of China.

Below is an actual example that describes how Dafa practitioners in a certain rural area of China deal with the issue of being good people and harmonizing the environment. I wrote it out to share with fellow practitioners.

Every year after harvest in autumn, village officials would face the difficult issue of delivering tax grain to the state and collecting grain reserve. Sometimes, they have to call in the police to collect the grain tax, which further intensifies the conflicts between the village officials and the farmers. Dafa practitioners in that area cultivate themselves with the principles of Truth-Compassion-Tolerance in their cultivation, and their morals are uplifted and physical health improved. They try to always be considerate of others. Every year when it is the time to deliver grain tax (which is paid in grain), practitioners take the lead. Following the example of the Dafa practitioners, the local grain collection work goes smoothly, and the local officials and people all believe that Dafa practitioners are the best and the kindest people.

Since Jiang's evil regime started to persecute Falun Dafa on July 20, 1999, some local officials, under the pressure from higher authorities, often went to the Dafa practitioners' homes to harass them in order to "do their jobs" 'even though they know that Dafa practitioners are good people.

Through Fa study and the exchange of understandings, practitioners realized that actively delivering the tax grain every year only meant that the practitioners are good people. It did not mean that practitioners had done well in clarifying the truth, in saving people, and in validating the Fa. Practitioners knew that they should take the opportunity of delivering the tax grain to actively clarify the truth and validate the Fa.

When it was time to deliver the tax grain this year, Dafa practitioners did not take the lead, and the village officials had great difficulty collecting. The village officials became worried, so they went to Dafa practitioners' homes, and said, "What has happened to you this year? Aren't you talking about being good people? You still need to take the lead. Otherwise, it will be very difficult for us to accomplish the task this year." Dafa practitioners then explained to them why they had not yet paid this year, and told them the truth about the staged Tiananmen Square "Self-immolation," the spreading of Dafa in the world, the lawsuits against the evil head and his accomplices in the courts of other countries, and the typical examples that doing good deeds would be rewarded with good and being evil would receive evil returns. This way the village officials got to know more about the truth of Dafa, about Dafa's benevolence, dignity, and goodness. Some village officials even said loudly in the radio broadcast, "Falun Dafa is good. Folks, please learn from the Dafa practitioners." The practitioners have thus effectively validated the Fa.
