Running into Good People and Thanking Falun Gong - True Story from a Non-Practitioner in China

(Clearwidsom.net) I am a 70-year-old farmer in Henan Province. One morning in December 2003, my wife and I traveled quite a ways to visit a relative living in the Zhouko Region. When we got there, a neighbor said that our relative moved out a couple days ago and did not leave a new address.

My wife and I went to other neighbors for information but didn't get any. We were hungry by then. We decided to find something to eat first and then decided we would return home. I was totally shocked when I reached into my pocket for money and found that my money, a couple of twenty Yuan bills, was missing. It had to be a thief who stole my money. I was very angry and disappointed. What could we do? My wife suggested we try to borrow some money from someone to buy some food, and then we would try to figure out how to get back home.

We stood on the corner of Bayi Road and Shengli Bridge and started asking strangers for money or some food from the people who came down from the bridge. I asked a dozen people, but none provided anything. The weather was very cold. With an empty stomach we elderly people were shivering in the cold. It was extremely embarrassing to ask for money in our old age and see that no one would help. For while I wished that I could just sit on the ground and cry loudly.

At this moment a middle-aged man, between 40 and 50, came down from the bridge on his bike. I went up and asked for help. He got off this bike and listened my story. He said with smile, "Yes, I can help you. Anyone may encounter a crisis." He led us to a small restaurant nearby, ordered several dishes and then he went to another vender to buy a big, hot steamed bun.

My wife and I were so touched we could not describe it in words. Tearfully, we showed our gratitude and thanked him. He replied with a smile and calmly said, "Elderly folks, don't thank me for this. If you would like to thank anyone or anything, please thank Falun Gong and our Teacher Mr. Li Hongzhi. It is Teacher Li who taught us to think of other people first, and to become a better person with Truth-Compassion-Tolerance in mind."

He told us that he used to have a chronic disease, which could not be cured. After he started practicing Falun Gong, his illness was gone. Now he has a happy family and a good career. He also told us how the TV and newspapers had spread unfounded and fabricated lies in order to defame Falun Gong, that Falun Gong has spread to more than sixty countries worldwide and Jiang Zemin is formally being sued in court in many counties.

The owner of the restaurant, the chef, waiter and waitress were also involved in the conservations and shook their heads once they heard the real truth of Falun Gong. The owner said, "I trust whatever this gentleman has said based on what he did today for you old folks. I truly believe that Falun Gong practitioners are good people." At the end, the middle-aged man gave us 20 Yuan to take a bus home before he rode his bike to work. We watched his back disappear in the crowd with the tears on our faces.

Back home, I shared my Zhouko City experience with my village friends. They said, "You met a good person! Falun Gong practitioners are very kind. From now on, we will never trust those lies from TV."

I had to have someone write out my experience because I would like to say a few fair words to Falun Gong based on my encounter. I would like all the people in the world to know that Falun Gong practitioners are truly good people.

To those government officials who were fooled by the Jiang Zemin regime I want to say, "stop defaming and persecuting Falun Gong."
