Short Stories from China: "I Know Those Who Practice Falun Gong Are Good People"

The other day I went to a dry-cleaners to pick up some clothes that I had dropped off there. As I was paying, I handed a pamphlet that clarified the truth about Falun Gong, together with a flyer, to the shop owner. As I handed the materials to him, I said, "Here is some material that contains the truth. It is for you to read at your own leisure so as to gain a correct understanding about Falun Gong. I hope that you may come to know the truth. Holding ourselves to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, those who practice Falun Gong are good people. Please don't be deceived by the lies shown on TV."

The shop owner nodded and said, "Previously I hired a temporary helper here, young Mr. Wang. Being a Falun Gong practitioner, he worked very diligently in my store. I know that those who practice Falun Gong are good people."

On New Year's Day of 2004, the Henan Provincial police, the Yuzhou Wuliang Town "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] and the local police station broke into a Falun Dafa practitioner's home to search for and confiscate Falun Gong books and truth-clarification materials. When they were raiding the house the practitioner wasn't in so the policemen forcefully abducted his wife (who doesn't practice Falun Gong) and brought her to the police station. In the station, they pulled her hair while they hit, beat, and scolded her. They tried to force her to confess as to the source of the Falun Gong truth-clarification materials. She said that she had no idea. The police then questioned her saying, "Why don't you prevent your husband from practicing Falun Gong?"

The practitioner's wife then replied, "He used to bully me, but after practicing Falun Gong he became a good person and our family thus grew more and more harmonious. Also, he had broken his leg once while falling down, but he fully recovered through practicing Falun Gong. All these are benefits from Falun Gong. Therefore why should I prevent him from practicing Falun Gong?"

The wicked policemen wasted half a day questioning this good lady without obtaining any results. So by 9 p.m. they finally had to release her and let her go home.
