Melbourne: Falun Gong Practitioners Participate in Three Local Festivals (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) March is autumn in Australia, and many activities
are taking place in districts of the city. On the two weekends of February 22
and February 29, Falun Dafa practitioners in Melbourne participated in three
local festivals, where they performed exercise demonstrations, dances and
parades. On February 22, the Monash City Council organized the "Planet Meltdown
Festival" in Clayton. The theme of the event was, "Cultures Come
Together." Since this was the first large event of the year in Clayton, it
attracted many local residents of different nationalities, as well as a lot of
visitors. Falun Dafa practitioners set up two booths, one of Falun Dafa and the
other for, "Petals for Peace". Many people visited the booths,
especially the "Petals for Peace" booth, where people learned to make
their own paper lotus flowers. The beauty of the lotus flower and the meaning
behind it touched people's hearts. The flowers also bore good wishes for the
Chinese children living under the Jiang regime's persecution. During the parade, many immigrants dressed in their traditional costumes
performed their national songs and dances. The audience gave them warm applause.
The Falun Gong procession, composed mostly of Chinese immigrants, received a
warm welcome. On February 29, the Falun Dafa practitioners divided into two teams and
participated in the holiday celebrations in Ashburton and Moonee Valley. Falun Gong has been invited to Moonee Valley festival many times. This time,
they didn't give a stage performance but many people showed their interest. Some
asked where they could learn the exercises. At Ashburton, little practitioners
performed the "Lotus Dance" and "Hand Drum Dance," and
attracted many families with children. The "Tang Dynasty Dance" and
"Fan Dance" also generated warm applause. At the end of the
performance, young practitioners demonstrated the five sets of exercises and
gave people a glimpse of the beauty of Falun Dafa.
