Yongzhou practitioner Deng Lingmin (gender unknown) has been on a hunger strike for 26 days at the Xintian County Detention Center. Practitioner Deng is extremely weak and unable to talk. Deng's life is in great danger.

Chen Jian, a 32-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner from Nanchang City, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa in 1999. He was illegally sentenced to three years in prison. After the completion of his term, Chen Jian was sentenced to another three years of forced labor. During his detention, the police guards injured his ribs. Chen Jian went on a hunger strike to protest his illegal detention and mistreatment. Recently, his foot was purposefully fractured, and he is unable to walk. His family members went to visit him at the prison hospital on March 23 but were not allowed in.

Ms. Wu Yueju, born in 1952, is a Falun Dafa practitioner from Mahudao Village in the Tiexi District of Pulandian City. Someone reported her for explaining the truth about Falun Dafa and delivering truth-clarifying materials to people in her village. On January 6, 2004, she was arrested and put in jail. Currently she is being detained at the Dalian Forced Labor Camp.

Beginning in October of 2000, Wu Yueju was detained at the Dalian Forced Labor Camp for three years and two months. Although she was subjected to hard labor, deception, threats, abuse, and all kinds of torture, she never yielded to the evil and has persisted in her belief in Truth, Compassion and Tolerance. On December 4, 2003, she was released and returned home with dignity.

On January 5, 2004, Wu Yueju explained the truth of Falun Dafa to Rong Qin, a woman who lived in the same village, and sent some truth-clarifying materials to her home. Rong Qin then reported her. At 4:30 p.m. on January 6, Mu X from the Tiexi District Police Substation, along with several other policemen, arrested Wu Yueju at home.

On January 7, 2004, Wu Yueju was taken to Pulandian Detention Center. Without notifying her family members, she was then transferred to the Dalian Forced Labor Camp. She suffered so much during her previous detention at the Dalian Forced Labor that we are quite worried about her current situation.

On March 16, 2004, practitioners Liu Yuqin, Xinxin (official name unknown), and Li Wenjun were wrongfully arrested. The Weichang Police Substation was responsible for the arrests. Currently Liu Yuqin and a practitioner from Shuangji are being detained in the Jilin No.1 Detention Center, Xinxin is being detained in the Jilin No.3 Detention Center, and Li Wenjun's whereabouts are unknown.

After their arrest, Liu Yuqin and Xinxin were taken to the Changyi Public Security Bureau and unjustly interrogated on the afternoon of March 17. Two policemen from Weichang Police Substation beat Liu Yuqin brutally because she refused to tell them her name or sign any illegal documents. After the beating, Liu Yuqin suffered a severe headache and was taken to the hospital. A medical examination revealed that she had had a serious heart attack, so the No.1 Detention Center at first refused to accept her. The two policemen, through their personal connections, forced the No.1 Detention Center to accept Liu Yuqin. The Detention Center required that Liu Yuqin have a medical examination in the hospital so that they could have a record of the examination results. After this was done, the Detention Center reluctantly accepted her.

Recently, a female practitioner in her sixties was taken to the No.1 Detention Center.

On February 27, 2004, many policemen from the Qiaoxi Public Security Branch in Shijiazhuang City broke into Liu Huixin's home, searched the house, and arrested her. They confiscated a photocopier worth 5,000 yuan, without justification [500 yuan is equal to the average monthly salary of an urban worker in China]. According to a policeman involved in the arrest, Ms. Liu was under surveillance for half a month. It was recently learned that Liu Huixin has been sentenced to two years of forced labor.

Ms. Li Shugai, in her sixties, is from Beisu Village, Beisu Township, Wuji County, Hebei Province. On March 20, 2004, personnel from the Wuji County Public Security Bureau, the National Security Team, and the Subei Township Police Substation unlawfully arrested her. Ms. Li is being detained at Chengbei Detention Center in Wuji County. Her 80-year-old mother-in-law has been left alone at home with nobody to look after her.

Xia Guofen, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Yi County in Liaoning Province, was unlawfully arrested on March 22, 2004. Xia Guofen's home was searched as well. This practitioner is currently being detained at the Yi County Detention Center.

At 9:00 a.m. on March 23, 2004, four policemen from the Chuangye Police Substation, including Wang Baoyou, Wu Guoqing and Zhang Weidong, abducted practitioner Jiao Lingyun in the dining hall of Daqing No. 47 High School. She is currently being detained at the Honggang District Detention Center, where she is on a hunger strike to protest her illegal detention.

On March 30, 2004, Gu Chenglian and Li Zhonghui from Xinchun in Xichang City were arrested by Li Yu, Director of the City National Security Team, and three policemen. During the arrest, Li Zhonghui lost consciousness. The practitioners' family members were present during the arrest and spoke out with the force of justice, which stalled Li Yu and his policemen. Eventually, however, the police called in over a dozen additional security guards and police officers from the Xinchun Police Substation, and they forcibly abducted the two practitioners.

Seeing the police arrest these Falun Dafa practitioners without any legal procedure or justification led to great resentment on the part of the practitioners' family members as well as on the part of the other onlookers. The police cars were blocked by the crowd and could not move for quite a while.

On March 11, 2004, while in a department store, Ms. Liu Fuxiang was arrested by the Dehui Criminal Police Team and was taken to the Dehui Detention Center. She has not yet been released.

The Yuanyang Public Security Bureau vigorously persecutes Falun Dafa practitioners, especially those who post and distribute truth-clarifying materials in rural areas. Recently four practitioners were arrested. They are Shi Xiuying, Li Fengling, Liu Anlan, and a new practitioner whose name is unknown. Li Fengling was arrested at home and had his Dafa books confiscated; Liu Anlan, from Miaolou Village in Shizai Township, was sentenced to forced labor. The four practitioners are currently being detained in the Yuanyang County Detention Center.

On March 14, personnel from the North Jingzi Town Social Stabilizing Office and the North Jingzibian Police Substation (86-415-7852325, 86-415-7855647) abducted practitioners Zhao Xiufang and Pan Guizhen from Jingzi Town.

In late March, the Huayuan Police Substation (Director Pan Baochang, work number: 86-415-7187515, home number: 86-415-7186228 and cellular phone number: 86-13941531233) illegally arrested many practitioners including Wang Defeng and Yu Fengying. Practitioners' homes were searched without justification.

The above-mentioned practitioners are being detained in local detention centers.

On the morning of March 17, 2004, Gong Jingwen, Director of the Political & Security Department in Cangzhou City, went to Litongpan Village in Jinzhuang Town with a group of thugs in an attempt to arrest practitioner Li Jincang. It just so happened that Li Jincang was not at home. Instead, they abducted his wife and his elder daughter, both of whom are Falun Dafa practitioners, and they illegally confiscated a CD burner.

Over the following days, two policemen stayed at Li Jincang's home, waiting for him to return. Mr. Li's wife is presently being detained in the Botou City Detention Center while his elder daughter Li Bing is being kept in custody at the Nanpi County Detention Center. Both detention centers are in Hebei Province.
