Ms. Zou Wenyu Goes Blind after being Injected with Unknown Drugs at the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zou Wenyu, 51 years old, was a teacher for 27 years before she was persecuted for practicing Falun Dafa. She had suffered from poor health since childhood, resulting in overall frailty and weakness. Ms. Zou worked hard and diligently. Often she was overworked, and over the years, her health worsened. She suffered from a number of illnesses and no treatments were effective. However, Ms. Zou was fortunate to learn Falun Dafa in 1996. Her health improved greatly and her spirits soared after studying the teachings of Falun Dafa and practicing the exercises. The improvement in her health also affected her work positively. All her relatives and friends knew of the benefits she gained through practicing Falun Dafa, and about the happiness and joy it brought to her family.

On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin began to openly persecute Falun Gong. He incessantly libeled, vilified and slandered Falun Gong, forced Falun Gong practitioners to undergo brainwashing and prohibited people from practicing the exercises. In February 2000, Zou Wenyu went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. She had no idea about the persecution she would be subjected to. Ms. Zou was illegally detained for 50 days and fined 10,800 yuan [Chinese currency: the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 yuan.]. Then Ms. Zou lost her job and thus her livelihood. In October 2000, Ms. Zou was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor. Falun Gong practitioners are tortured inhumanly in detention. The staff at the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City, Human Province, injected Ms. Zou with unknown drugs. As a result she became blind in both eyes and she also became hearing-impaired. She is now disabled and has difficulty caring for herself. The labor camp did not notify Ms. Zou's husband to come and get her until April 2002, and even then they only did so because her condition had worsened and her health had deteriorated drastically.
