Ms. Yang Junping from Inner Mongolia Persecuted to Death in 2002
(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Yang Junping was a 30-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from
Zhengxiangbaiqi, Ximeng, Inner Mongolia. She had a 12-year-old child. Before she
took up the practice of Falun Gong in 1999, she suffered from an erythematic
skin condition and also had late-stage cancer. However, after she began
practicing Falun Gong, she soon recovered and her hair that had been lost due to
cancer treatment grew back. Because she persisted in practicing Falun Gong, she was arrested by the
police in December 2001. Due to the torture she suffered in the detention
center, her old illnesses recurred. She was then released and sent to a relative
to have her illnesses treated. However, the police soon took her away again. Her
health deteriorated as a result of the persecution. She was sent to Hohhot City,
but the hospital there wouldn't take her since she was seriously ill. In order
to prevent her from practicing Falun Gong, the police demanded 2,000 yuan from
her as a condition for her release on medical parole. Ms. Yang's family had
already borrowed tens of thousands of yuan to treat her illnesses and did not
have any money. In order to get her out, the family had to their mortgage their
home to pay the police. After Ms. Yang returned home, the police still often
harassed and monitored her. In August 2002, she passed away.
