Ningbo City Police Abduct and Torture Practitioners in Mental Hospital (Clearwisdom.net) During the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners,
the Political and Security Office of Ningbo City Police Department commonly
deceived practitioners' family members by saying, "If you sign to agree to
sending the practitioner to the mental hospital, he/she will be released very
soon. You don't need to pay for the medical expenses, and the practitioner will
not lose their job. A person sent to a mental hospital is a patient, so after
being released, the reputation of the practitioner is still good. If you don't
agree, we will sentence him or send him to a forced labor camp. Even if he is
released later, his salary, job, and reputation will be affected." As a
result, many relatives of practitioners were cheated into signing the agreement.
But after the practitioners were released from the mental hospital, their minds
and bodies were seriously injured. Case No. 1: Mr. Zhou Guobo, 34, was a manager for Guandi Temple Shopping
Center in Ningbo City. On July 20, 1999, he went to Beijing to legally appeal
for Falun Gong, but was detained. In August 1999, Mr. Zhou was sent to the
Kangning [Mental] Hospital in Ningbo City. There he was forcibly given
injections and medicine for about a month. A few days after he was sent home it
was the National Holiday, when Falun Dafa practitioner arrests often intensify.
He was abducted to the mental hospital again for several more months. After he
was released, he had no eye response, and was extremely weak from the torture
administered inside the hospital. Case No. 2: Mr. Chen Gang is about 35 years old. He previously worked at the
Military Equipment Department in Ningbo City. He was arrested on the morning of
April 13, 2001, while practicing Falun Gong in a park. Because he would not give
up practicing Falun Gong, he was sent directly to a mental hospital. During his
detention there, the president of the hospital once asked Mr. Chen to come to
his office. The president lied to him, telling him that they would inject him
with a nutritional substance. After the injection, Mr. Chen immediately lost
control of his bladder and bowels and could not move his four limbs. He
gradually recovered after more than 30 days. Inside the mental hospital, he was
also forced to take various unknown drugs. He received forced-feedings, and was
lied to and threatened. Both his mind and body were greatly harmed. Around June
2002 he was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor. After being sent
to the camp, he was tortured to the verge of death. He could only stand for a
few minutes before fainting, so the forced labor camp had to release him on bail
for medical treatment. Case No. 3: Ms. Xue Xiaoqing is about 45 years old. She was a teacher at the
No. 5 Middle School in Ningbo City. Around March 2000 she went to legally appeal
in Beijing. After being arrested, she was sent to a mental hospital for about
three months. Later, she was sent there again. Inside the hospital, she was
forced to take medicine, and edema appeared on her body. Her memory lapsed and
her mental response became slow. Later, she was sent to a forced labor camp for
two years. Case No. 4: Ms. Shen Xiaohui, 35, used to work at the Ningbo Airport. She
went to Beijing to appeal in July 2000. After being arrested there, she was sent
to the mental hospital. For the entire three months she was there, she was
forced to take medicine and injections. She was beaten with an electric baton
and received other forms of persecution. The torture made her feel like dying.
In 2002 she was sentenced to three more years in prison, and was detained at the
Zhejiang Provincial Female Prison in Hangzhou City. Case No. 5: Ms. Zhou Ying, about 33, was a staff member at the Beilun Seaport
Bureau in Ningbo City. In January 2000 she went to appeal in Beijing. After her
arrest, she was sent to the mental hospital and persecuted there for more than
three months. When she was released, it could be seen that she had been tortured
to a horrible state. Case No. 6: Mr. Yu Zhijian is about 35 years old. In 1999, he went to the
Provincial Government Office in Hangzhou City to appeal but was detained and
sent to a mental hospital. He was injected with a drug that causes muscle mass
to waste away, and has been persecuted for two months. Case No. 7: Mr. Chi Haiming, 32, is a reporter for the Ningbo Evening
Newspaper. When he went to Beijing to appeal, he was detained for one month and
then sent to a mental hospital. He was forced to take medicine and injections
for 68 days. Later, he was sent to the Shiliping Forced Labor Camp. Other practitioners, such as Rong Yaping, Xia Aifen, Zhou Runqiu, Cai Xiping,
Chen Yuexia, and others have also been threatened with commitment to a mental
hospital. Because their relatives had learned about the persecution by the
Political and Security Office of Ningbo City Police Department inside the
hospital, they all refused to sign the agreement. As a result, all these
practitioners were sent to forced labor camps.
