The Persecution of Dafa Practitioners Li Yanxiu, Tan Jingrong and Others in Qidong County, Hunan Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Li Yanxiu was arrested and detained because he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa on January 1, 2001. Xiao Zhong, the Political and Law Committee Secretary of Buyunqiao Town, Qidong County, Hunan Province, heard about his going to Beijing. On January 4, he led more than a dozen people, including Village Security personnel, Zheng Aimin, Li Menggui and Village Party Secretary Chen Fuyuan, to Mr. Li's home. They broke down the front door and stole more than a thousand pounds of rice. They also grabbed other household items such as a gas stove, a fan, a sewing machine, tables and stools and more.

On May 10, 2000, because of distributing truth-clarification flyers, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zen Fanchun was arrested by Zheng Aimin, the chief officer of the Buyunqiao Police Station in Qidong County. Zheng Aimin lied to the surrounding people, saying, "Zen Fanchun prints anti-revolutionary flyers." When Mr. Zen's father, sister-in-law and wife came to the police station to bring food to him, they saw that Zheng Aimin was about to move a few Dafa practitioners to the county detention center. Mr. Zen's family members approached and argued with Zheng Aimin, who then ordered the police to shut the door. Mr. Zen's father was thrown to the floor and badly beaten. The Falun Dafa practitioners who were to be relocated went up to stop the beating and were hit as well. Mr. Zen's sister-in-law and wife experienced the same abuse.

On July 20, 2000, Dafa practitioner Ms. Tan Jingrong went to Beijing to appeal and was detained at a forced labor camp in Tianjin City. A female team leader named Wang persuaded criminals to torture Ms. Tan. They beat her with their fists and boots, pulled her hair, handcuffed her arms behind her back and force-fed her, and kept her standing for 27 hours as punishment. After 20 days of being on a hunger strike, Tan Jingrong was transferred to Qidong for detention and suffered continuously there. County police officer Li Wei used a 2-inch-wide by 39-inch long bamboo stick to hit her palms and ankles after forcing her to kneel on the floor. Ms. Tan was beaten black and blue over her entire body and had to hop on one foot to walk. Police officer He Zengrong slapped her roughly.

Tan Jingrong protested with a hunger strike in the Qidong Detention Center. Policemen Liu Zhengtian, Zhang Wanli, Zhou Youzhong and Zhou Daosheng dragged her out of bed (she was wearing only underwear and it was very cold), and bound her with rope in a spread eagle position. They used a towel to cover her nose and used chopsticks to pry open her mouth. Then they poured one liter of extremely salty water into Ms. Tan's mouth. Her mouth was bleeding terribly. After more than 10 months in detention, the Buyunqiao "610 Office," (1) headed by Zen Xiangshen, extorted 1,400 yuan from her family and finally let her go home.

While Tan Jingrong was detained in Tianjin, officer Deng Deyong of the Buyunqiao Town Court led a security group to her home to extort money and property. Her husband did not dare to go home. They broke their wooden floor and said that it didn't matter at all if the government killed a few people. They often went to her parents' home and threatened to take her brother away.
