Four Falun Dafa practitioners from the Guancheng District, Zhengzhou City were arrested in their homes during the months of May and June 2003. They are Quan Peijian, Ms. Zang Yufeng, Ms. Feng Caiqin, and Ms. Li Huizhen. State security section officials Li Yong and Wang Zhenfu, led other officers of the Guancheng District Branch Police Department, to brutally torture the four practitioners during the interrogation sessions. The practitioners were slapped, struck with charged electric batons, stripped naked, and hung upside down by their feet. The officers burned their bodies with cigarettes, applied electric shocks, struck them with clubs, and placed motorcycle helmets over their heads while filling the helmets with smoke. The practitioners were deprived of sleep for days and nights. When the practitioners were no longer able to think rationally, the officers imprinted their fingerprints in place of signatures onto fabricated "confessions".

On June 20, 2003, the four practitioners were transferred to the Zhengzhou City No. 1 Detention Center (the Eighth Section) where they were forced to work almost twenty hours a day during their unlawful custody. On July 14, 2003, the Guancheng District Branch Police Department announced that seven practitioners were formally arrested. Four of the arrested practitioners were secretly tried at 3:00 p.m. on December 29, 2003 by the Guancheng District Court. The prosecutor could not get the charges to match facts and the trial did not go anywhere.

After several months of fabricating evidence, the Guancheng District Procuratorate and Court forced the sentencing of the four practitioners based on false evidence, provided by the Guancheng District Branch Police Department. The practitioners were granted only three days to file an appeal. Unlawful prison terms for the four Falun Dafa practitioners were distributed as follows: Quan Peijian, 5 years; Zang Yufeng, 5 years; Feng Caiqin, 4 years; Li Huiling, 3 years.

On March 16, Anshan City Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Yu Zhiqiang from the brigade awaiting sentencing in Yingkou City launched a hunger strike upon learning that he had been unlawfully sentenced to eight years in prison. On April 8, he was transferred to the No. 5 Xinsheng Brigade in the Panjin Prison. To date, he has been on hunger strike for over forty days. He is in critical condition and his life is in imminent danger. He has been taken to the medical ward for intravenous feeding. Guards threatened to force-feed him concentrated salt water if Mr. Yu continued to abstain from food and water.

Ms. Fang Cuiying is a Falun Dafa practitioner in her fifties from Leihe City, Henan Province. On March 29 she was arrested for posting truth-clarifying signs. Her home was ransacked. She is being held in the Leihe Detention Center.

Zhao Zhongdang is a Falun Gong practitioner in Gongyi City, Henan Province. On the morning of April 16, 2004 Mr. Zhao was arrested by the police at his home. The police suspected him of distributing leaflets. He is currently being held in Hostel 339 near the Gongyi Railroad Station, where he suffered police brutality while being coerced to sign the "three statements" [renouncing Falun Gong].

Ms. An Yinling is a Falun Dafa practitioner in her mid-thirties from Leihe City, Henan Province. During the two national sessions of the People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference this past March, Ms. An went to Kongzhongguo Township in Yancheng County to distribute truth-clarifying materials and peel off slogans defaming Falun Gong. She was arrested by staff of the Kongzhongguo Police Station. She was later sent to the State Security Brigade in Yancheng County and unlawfully held in the Yancheng Detention Center. Recently a request for her arrest warrant has been processed by the procuratorate.

Mr. Zhang Fuchen, 43, lives at the Bianwai Village, Yushu Township, Xinbin County, Liaoning Province. At a Communist Party meeting on April 5, 2004, Mr. Zhang said, "No matter what we do in daily life, we have to follow the standard of Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance. We should try to be good people, and treat others kindly." Mr. Zhang was reported to the authorities for making this statement. On April 7, 2004, Gao Zhenyuan and six officers from the Yushu Township Police Station arrested Mr. Zhang. For his determination to continue practicing Falun Dafa, Mr. Zhang was sent to the Wujiabao Forced Labor Camp in Fushun City for three years.

On April 2, 2004, Wen Xingnu and two other female Falun Dafa practitioners from Longtang Town, Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province were arrested by Li Wenhai of the Qingyuan City "610 Office." [The "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.] The Longtang Police Station also took part in the arrest. The practitioners are being held in the detention center.

From February to March of this year, three Falun Dafa practitioners, including Chen Xueqing and Liao Rongxi, in Shaogang Group Company in Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province were arrested. Shi Changhai and other members of the local "610 Office" carried out the arrests and searches. The practitioners are being held in the Sangongli Detention Center in Shaoguan City.

9. [Jingyu County, Jilin Province] Mr. Hu Yunjiao Arrested

Mr. Hu Yunjiao is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Sandaohu Town, Jingyu County, Jilin Province. He lives in a rented room in the central area of the county. On April 23, 2004, both Mr. Hu and his father were arrested at home by the Political Security Section of the county police department. Falun Dafa books and tapes were also found in their home. Mr. Hu makes a living by riding tricycles and supports his father. On that day, he did not go to work because of snow. Li Tiejun, deputy director of the county police department, along with officer Sha Tixian, Wei Jian, the director of the political security section, Ma Jing, a staff member of the political security section, and others broke into and ransacked the place without presenting a warrant. Mr. Hu's father was released the next day, while Mr. Hu was transferred to the county detention center.

Ms. Luo Xiaolan is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Huangpi District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. She was arrested on April 27, 2004, by officials of the "610 Office" in Huangpi District.

Ms. Chen Jing, Ms. Cao Yukun and Mr. Cao Yuanbao are Falun Dafa practitioners in Zhaodong City, Heilongjiang Province. On the morning of April 29, 2004, they drove to Shangjia Town in the suburb of Zhaodong City to distribute leaflets exposing the lies spread by Jiang's regime. The police unlawfully arrested them. Ms. Zhang Baoqun is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Anshan City, Liaoning Province. On the morning of April 20, 2004, she was arrested by officers from the Youhao Police Station while distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. Over twenty officers then broke into her home. They also extorted 300 yuan from Zhang's husband. The telephone number of the Youhao Police Station is 86-412-6333434.

Ms. Zhou Shuangfen lives near the Zoumaling Paper Company in Dongxihu District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. She was turned in to the police for explaining the truth about the persecution to local teachers. On March 9, 2004, officers from the local police station abducted her to the Sandian Brainwashing Class in Dongxihu District. She was later transferred to the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center and has since remained there for refusing to give up her belief.

Ms. Li Zhi is a Falun Gong practitioner in Dongxihu District, Wuhan City. She started practicing Falun Dafa in 1993. After the nationwide suppression of Falun Gong was instituted on July 22, 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal [on behalf of Falun Gong] in June 2000. Local police brought her back from Beijing and detained her on the grounds of "disturbing the social order." She was also forced to attend a a brainwashing session. During the brainwashing session in the Dongxihu District Party School, she staged a hunger strike. She was brought home by her family after she started to vomit blood. Her physical condition remained weak after returning home. Her family took her to a hospital for treatment, which was of no help. Her condition started to improve after she left hospital and started practicing the Falun Gong exercises. Unfortunately, her family members had been infected by the lies spread by the media. They resorted to violence to prevent her from doing the Falun Gong exercises. Under pressure from society, school, and family, her condition deteriorated rapidly. She was taken to the hospital again but, tragically, in May 2002, she died at the age of 31.

Ms. Cao Qiongfen, is a Falun Gong practitioner in Daye City, Hubei Province. She was taken to a forced labor camp in 2000. She collapsed mentally as a result of torture suffered at the No. 2 Brigade in the Shayang Forced Labor Camp. She died in 2001 after being sent home.

Mr. Huang Xuejun is a Falun Dafa practitioner from Anlu, Hubei Province. In November 1999, the police arrested him on charges that he encouraged others to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. He was sent to the Xiaogan Forced Labor Camp in Hubei Province for a year for refusing to sign a statement of guarantee [renouncing Falun Gong]. In June 2002, Mr. Huang was arrested at his home by the Xiaochang Police Department. He was sent to a forced labor camp in Shayang for a year. On April 19, 2004, the police again took Huang away, this time from his workplace. He is being held at a brainwashing center in Wuhan City.
