Seriously Ill Son Passes Away After Mother Is Sentenced to Forced Labor Camp
By a practitioner from China (Clearwisdom.net) Fan Guang was a student from Shulan Street, Shulan City,
Jilin Province. His father was a coal miner who had lost his life in an accident
many years ago. He and his mother Wang Pengying depended on each other for their
lives. Their only source of income was Ms. Wang's modest salary. In the days
leading up to the 16th People's Congress in November of 2002, Ms. Wang and six
other Falun Gong practitioners were illegally detained by Chief Zhao Zhenguo and
others from the Shulan Street police station. After the 16th People's Congress
was over, Ms. Wang was sentenced to a year of forced labor after refusing to pay
off the police to obtain her release. Concerned about her son's living expenses,
Ms. Wang asked policeman Li Hai to direct her income to her son, and he agreed.
However, the authorities soon cut off her income. At that time, the coal mine was going bankrupt and many coal miners were
losing their jobs. For Fan Guang, who had just left school, it was very
difficult to find a job. Without any means of support, he suffered hunger and
cold and deeply missed his mother. He became very sick. After a year and a month in the labor camp, Ms. Wang Pengying came home to
find her son was dying. Fan Guang's heart and stomach were very weak. He
couldn't eat anything because he had been very ill and malnourished for a long
time. Ms. Wang took him to see many doctors, but it was too late. On April 10,
2004, Fan Guang died. His body was so emaciated and pale that the staff of the
crematorium was moved to tears for him. Another young life was thereby lost as a result of the persecution of Falun
Gong. |
