Mr. Guo Zhengqing is Paralyzed Due to Torture He Suffered in Beijiao Prison, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province

Guo Zhengqing, from Xuanhua County, Hebei Province is a forty-three-year old male Falun Dafa practitioner. On April 26, 2001, he was illegally arrested and sent to a detention center in Xuanhua County after appealing for Falun Dafa in Beijing. Later, the authorities sentenced him to three years in prison on the false charge of "obstruction of law-enforcement." Currently, Mr. Guo is being held in the fifth division of Beijiao Prison, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province.

Prior to his arrest, Guo Zhengqing was very healthy, strong and clear minded. He was able to carry three people at one time, each weighing 165 pounds. These facts were well known by all the inmates.

Guo Zhengqing was immediately tortured by the police upon his arrest. In the detention center he was brutally beaten by police officers and criminal inmates on more than fifty occasions. Due to the abuse, his brain was damaged and his nose started bleeding nonstop. Later on, the persecution of Falun Gong was intensified by Jiang and his gang, and Guo Zhengqing was sent to Beijiao Prison. By then, both of his hands and legs were disfigured. He could not write or even hold anything in his hands, and he experienced great difficulty walking. In this condition he was sent to a forced brainwashing class where he was tortured with sleep deprivation for eight consecutive days and nights. During the day, the police guards turned a small bench upside down and forced him to sit on the pointed ends of the bench while beating him continuously. Guo Zhengqing's head swelled significantly and he often lost consciousness. While detained in the fifth division, Guo Zhengqing was brutally beaten by the police and criminal inmates more than ten times. The tortures were so cruel that no kind-hearted person could possibly bear to witness them. Not long ago, one of the criminals assigned to watch Guo Zhengqing forcefully pushed him, a paralyzed individual, down to the ground and started to torture him. The torture caused one of his legs to swell very large and a black bloody blister as big as goose egg developed on his foot.

Guo Zhengqing's peaceful appeal for Falun Gong is a basic human right granted by the Chinese Constitution. Just for explaining the facts about Falun Gong he suffered brutal persecution from the public security officers and the law-enforcement departments. More than seventy brutal episodes of torture within the last three years have transformed a strong, healthy, energetic and keen-minded person into a paralyzed person who can no longer take care of himself and who suffers from all kinds of illnesses. However, the criminals who did this to him have still have not been brought to justice.

It is a tragedy that Guo Zhengqing was tortured to such a state. He can no longer see, stand or think straight. It was observed that two criminal inmates dragged him to the interrogation room of the division leader. Presently Guo Zhengqing's hands, arms, legs and whole body are completely numb. His face and mouth are also numb. He still has another four months left before he finishes his illegal detention.
