Faculty and Students at Lanzhou University Persecuted Because of Their Belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance

(Clearwisdom.net) Wang Yaling was an instructor in the Chinese Department of Lanzhou University. Since 1999, Lanzhou University has repeatedly put pressure on her. At the end of 2001, the university requested that she attend its own "transformation workshop." After Wang Yaling rejected their request, the university, teaming up with Lanzhou City "610 office," abducted and brought her to the Gongjiawan brainwashing class in Lanzhou City for forced "transformation." Wang Yaling suffered seriously both physically and mentally.

Bao Xinkang was an instructor in the Biology Department. At the end of 2000, Bao Xinkang was illegally detained for 15 days for going to appeal in Beijing. After the detention period was over, the university took him back and kept him in its guest-house, restricting his personal freedom for three months. At the end of 2001, the police knocked on his door at midnight to harass him, causing him to fall from the building as he tried to get away from them. He suffered multiple fractures as a result. At the end of 2002, they abducted Bao Xinkang and sent him to the Gangjiawan brainwashing class in Lanzhou City for forced "transformation."

Ms. Wang Hongmei was a PhD student in the History Department. At the end of 2001, Wang Hongmei was detained by Lanzhou University's Security Division for a long period of time. She suffered seriously both physically and mentally. Due to Wang Hongmei's hunger strike to protest the illegal detention, she was released.

Tan Xiaoping was a PhD student in the Biology Department. In early 2001, Lanzhou University held Tan Xiaoping in an underground guest-house for more than three months. In May 2001, after being arrested for writing "Falun Dafa is good" on the roadsides, Tan Xiaoping was sentenced to one and a half a years of forced labor. In the labor camp, Tan Xiaoping experienced intense physical torture, being hung up and beaten, not allowed to sleep etc, as the labor camp tried to "transform" him by force.

Wang Yunbo was a student in the Economics and Management Department. After his appeal trip to Beijing in the end of 2000, Wang Yunbo was forced to become destitute and homeless to avoid persecution. He was arrested in a fellow practitioner's home at the end of 2001 and sentenced to an 8-year term. He has been kept in Xiguoyuan Detention Center and has suffered from all kinds of tortures.

Xue Liuyan was a student in the Economics and Management Department. After Xue Liuyan's appeal in Beijing at the end of 2000, he was forced to become homeless. After he was arrested in 2002, he was held in Xiguoyuan Detention Center.

Wan Jiqiang was a graduate student in the Physics Department. At the end of 1999, Wan Jiqiang was detained for 15 days for appealing. Afterwards, the university punished him by suspending him from the university for one year. In the end of 2000, Wan Jiqiang once again went to appeal and was detained for 15 days. The university took him back and kept him in an underground guest-house. He was released later after a hunger strike, but was forced to become destitute and homeless to avoid further persecution.

Chen Duoju was a student in the Mathematics Department. At the end o f 1999, Chen Duoju was detained for 15 days, and then suspended from the university for one year. In early 2001, at the beginning of a semester, the university ordered Chen Duoju to suspend his classes and kept him in its underground guest-house to "study and transform." Chen Duoju walked away and was forced into homelessness. In the same year, Chen Duoju was arrested in a fellow practitioner's home and kept at Xiguoyuan Detention Center. In 2002, Chen Duoju was released, but was arrested again soon after. He was then sentenced to one year of forced labor and suffered from all kinds of tortures. After the term was over, he was directly sent to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Class for further detention and forced "transformation."

Zhang Lumin was a student in the Chemistry Department. In May 2001, he was detained in Xiguoyuan Detention Center for writing "Falun Dafa is good" along the roadsides. He was bailed out by his family after a hunger strike. His current situation is unknown.

Duan Jinhui was a student at the Department of Material Science. At the end of 1999, Duan Jinhui was suspended for one year for appealing. In 2001, he was detained in Xiguoyuan Detention Center for writing "Falun Dafa is good" by the roadsides. They then tried to brainwash him.

Lanzhou University set up a designated "610 Office," which has actively followed the persecution activities of the city "610 Office." The above faculty and students in Lanzhou University cultivate Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and they work and study hard. Some of them were recommended and guaranteed to enter graduate school. Some were class leaders. They were excellent in their studies. To these good employees and students, the university not only did not protect them but helped Jiang's group to persecute them. In order to please upper level officials, the university often holds persecution activities targeting Falun Gong practitioners. The purpose is to cater to the upper level officials and deceive the students.
