Spreading the Fa in China: Remembering Three Large-Scale Events in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province

1. A Large-Scale Group Practice in Yanjiang Park
In 1997, Falun Dafa practitioners in Jiamusi City (1) decided to celebrate
the fifth anniversary of the introduction of Falun Dafa to the public, and to
spread the Fa (2) by holding a large-scale group practice that would include
practitioners from every practice site in the area. We decided to gather at
Yanjiang Park, which was located near a river. Thousands of Falun Dafa
practitioners participated, and many residents witnessed the magnificent scene.
I hurried to the park by foot that morning before daybreak. Along the way, I
saw other practitioners also heading towards the park. Some walked, some rode
bikes and some carried Falun Dafa flags or Falun emblems. Some practitioners
came in buses supplied by their workplaces, because many employers supported
Dafa at that time.
When I arrived, the park was full of practitioners. Falun emblems, Dafa flags
and banners of all sizes were hanging everywhere: on street lamps, on guardrails
and on the iron chains along the river. Some were red and some were yellow.
Banners and posters hanging between trees on both sides of the road showed
images that told the story of how Falun Dafa had spread throughout China.
I stood on a tower and looked down at the scene. It truly looked like a sea
of people. The green trees, the colorful flowers and the crowds of people were
all bathed in the morning sunlight. This was the first time for many people to
witness such a great and peaceful scene. Some were taking pictures and some were
videotaping to record this precious historical moment when Falun Dafa was so
widely accepted.
When the exercise music started to play, the air seemed to stand still. It
was extremely quiet. I felt as if I were the only person between heaven and
earth, following the music and doing the Falun Gong exercises. The movements
were so relaxed, smooth and harmonious, beautiful and dignified.
After an hour we finished the first four sets of exercises, and it was time
for everyone to go to school and to work. The practitioners gradually left.
Whenever I recall that scene, I have a deeper sense of Teacher's immeasurable
compassion in saving all beings.
2. A Grand Group Activity in Jiamusi City's Central Square to Spread the Fa
It was May 2, 1998. More than 5,000 practitioners from the local area and
nearby towns participated in Jiamusi City's largest Fa-spreading activity. A
group exercise was held in the Central Square in downtown Jiamusi City. It was a
long Labor Day weekend and the street was crowded with vehicles and people.
After 8:00 a.m., practitioners began to arrive. We lined up on all four sides
of the square, facing the stage in the center. Soon the square was fully
occupied. On the east side, practitioners lined up all way to the steps of the
Government Building. On the north side, practitioners fully occupied the square
next to the museum. The stage in the center of the square was filled with young
practitioners all lined up. Even though many practitioners didn't know each
other, everyone was glowing with happy smiles.
At 9:00 a.m., the exercise music began to play. Immediately all of the
practitioners lined up in straight rows in both directions. All these
practitioners, who had so improved their moral standards, were able to do the
exercises with an exactness that rivaled a trained military unit. Many people
who were watching us were wondering, "How could they all move with such
precision?"
Bathed in the sunlight of May, we did the gentle movements of the Falun Gong
exercises, following the music. My mind was filled with Teacher's words and with
the music. Every cell in my body was immersed in the grand compassion of the
Buddha Fa. Tears slowly trickled down my face.
An hour passed by in a twinkling. I don't know how many people watched us
exercising and witnessed this glorious moment, but it will forever be inscribed
in the history of the universe.
After 10:00 a.m., the practitioners calmly left. They made no noise at all
nor did they affect the traffic. They quietly picked up the trash and went on
their way.
This group exercise event manifested the wonderfulness of Falun Gong. It made
a profound impression on ordinary people's minds. It was a magnificent event in
Jiamusi.
3. Group Fa Activity at Train Station Square
It was a few days before April 25, 1999, when I attended another group
exercise at Train Station Square to spread Falun Gong. This event occupied the
largest area of any event ever held in Jiamusi. At that time, Train Station
Square was well landscaped. Flowerbeds and grassy areas decorated the square.
There were many pedestrians, and the traffic was quite heavy.
It was very cold that morning. I got up early and put on a thickly padded
cotton jacket, and a scarf and gloves, but I still felt chilly. When I arrived
at the square, I saw many practitioners. Old or young, men or women, everyone
was cheerful, and I no longer felt the cold. Practitioners had decorated the
guardrails with Falun Gong posters, Falun emblems and banners. It was truly a
grand, public exhibition of Falun Gong.
The practitioners who knew each other were sharing experiences in small
groups of three to five people. After everything was well arranged,
practitioners started to line up. They kept the pedestrian walkway clear and
lined up along the sidewalk that ran through the grassy areas. Soon
practitioners were spread over a very large area. Both the east and west sides
of the entire square were filled with practitioners.
Two speakers began to broadcast the exercise music. Everyone practiced the
exercises in unison. The entire event was peaceful and well organized. Older
practitioners carefully reminded the younger ones, "We are Dafa practitioners.
We are good people everywhere and with regard to everything. Pay attention to
protecting the environment. Don't step on the grass. Don't throw trash." Not a
single child entered the grassy areas. Not a single child disturbed any of the
public facilities such as benches, lamps or the like.
Many people passed by and saw the peaceful exercise scene. It left them with
an unforgettable impression. People who lived in the neighborhood continued to
talk about the event for a long time afterwards. So many people are firmly
following the teachings of Master Li, as expounded in the book, Zhuan Falun.
So many people have conscientiously become good people after learning Falun
Gong. It is incredibly powerful. Dafa is wonderful and distinguished. It will
forever stay in people's minds and hearts.
