Dafa Practitioner Mr. Han Zhenju from Yongqing County, Hebei Province Tortured to Death at Kaiping Labor Camp in Tangshan City

(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Mr. Han Zhenju from Yongqing County, Hebei Province was arrested in March 2003 and sent to the Kaiping Labor Camp in Tangshan City. He was later transferred to the Gaoyang Labor Camp in Baoding City, where he was tortured to the brink of death. He was returned to the Kaiping Labor Camp, where he was tortured to death on May 15, 2004. Han Zhenju's family saw large areas of black and purple marks on the back of his body, and the details call for further investigation.

Mr. Han Zhenju was 53 years old and lived in Sidaohang Village, Sanshengkou Town, Yongqing County, Hebei Province.

In October 1999, Han Zhenju went to Beijing to appeal and was arrested and detained at Yongqing County Detention Center. In late 2000, he was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor for appealing for Falun Gong. Savage torture followed at the Gaoyang Labor Camp in Baoding, Hebei Province. He got out of the labor camp in an open and dignified manner. During the "Two Party Meetings" in 2002, Han Zhenju was once again arrested and held in a brainwashing class for two weeks. During the morning of March 23, 2003, officer Zhang Zhenqing and other police officers from No. 1 Politics and Security Section of Yongqing County Police Department arrested him from home without following any legal procedures and sent him to the Kaiping Labor Camp in Tangshan City.

Mr. Han Zhenju held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. One month later he was again sent to the Gaoyang Labor Camp in Baoding, Hebei Province. Officers there tortured him to the brink of death and then transferred him back to the Kaiping Labor Camp. The perpetrators at the Kaiping Labor Camp continued to torture him. On May 14, 2004 they notified Mr. Han's family that he was in critical condition and urged his family to come for a visit. On May 15 in the morning, the perpetrators told the family that Han Zhenju had passed away.

When the family had arrived, the body was already in the morgue. The family saw large areas of black and blue bruises on the back of his body, obvious signs that Mr. Han Zhenju had been beaten severely. The perpetrators claimed Han Zhenju died from heart disease, an illness that had never afflicted Han Zhenju. Because of China's information blockade, the details are still being investigated.
