The Relentless Persecution Suffered by Liang Xuelin: Her Family is Broken Apart and Her Husband Dies While She is in Detention
(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Liang Xuelin. I am a retired employee of the
Huitong County Movie Corporation. I believe in "Truthfulness, Compassion
and Tolerance" and persist in practicing Falun Dafa. Under the brutal
persecution initiated by Jiang's regime, the Huitong County Communist Party Vice
Secretary Long Fengliang, the Huitong County "610 Office" (1) and the
Political Security Department of the Huitong County Police Station have been
persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners. I have been illegally detained many times
and sentenced to two years of prison. My family has been broken up and I lost my
husband due to the persecution. I cannot go home for fear of being arrested
again. In 1998, I was suffering from gallbladder disease, gallbladder atrophy, and
an infestation of roundworm in the gallbladder duct. I spent one month in a
specialized hospital in a neighboring province to undergo treatment, without any
improvement in my health. After friends introduced Falun Dafa to me, all my
physical problems were immediately healed. More importantly, through studying
the principles of Falun Dafa, practicing the exercises and improving my moral
character, I learned to be tolerant and thoughtful of others. In July 1999, Jiang's regime suddenly started a massive persecution of Falun
Dafa. At the beginning, the police did not allow us to practice the exercises
and to study the teachings of Falun Dafa. We tried to explain to the police what
the practice of Falun Dafa was all about. They said that it was not them, but
rather the Central Government, that did not permit us to practice Falun Dafa. We
were told to speak to the higher authorities if we wanted to make our point of
view known. There were over a dozen practitioners and their families working at
the County Police Station, and many of them knew that Falun Dafa is good. I
thought that if they forbade us from practicing such a good qigong system, then
the leaders of the Central Government must have listened to the fabricated
reports given by some corrupted officials. Perhaps they didn't know the truth
and therefore were mistakenly carrying out the wrong orders. The Central Government has set up an Appeals Office; isn't it to listen to
the opinions of the people? Therefore, the practitioners in my county went
together to appeal in Beijing. However, we didn't expect that Jiang would even
forbid us from speaking up. As soon as we arrived at the Beijing Train Station,
we were arrested and sent back to Huitong. They illegally held us for 15 days.
Wu Yongchang is the former Director of the Political Security Department of the
Huitong County Police Station. He collaborated with other lawless officials in
the Huaihua Office in Beijing and took the practitioners' money under the
pretense of safeguarding it against theft. Some of us had brought several
hundred yuan (2), some brought over 1,000 yuan. They took all our money. I lost
600 yuan. After returning us to our region, the police extorted another 500 yuan
for travel expenses from each of our families. The County "610 Office" and the Political Security Department
feared that practitioners would go to Beijing to appeal on "sensitive
days" such as national holidays, Falun Dafa Day, ruling Party meetings,
etc., and used that as justification for arresting practitioners. In 2000, I was
illegally detained four times. These lawless officials have adopted despicable
methods to abduct and deceive practitioners. On the one hand, they were
imprisoning practitioners; on the other hand, they were fabricating and
spreading massive rumors in order to deceive the rest of the Chinese citizens. For example, around May 1, 2000, I was arrested and taken to the police
station by means of deceit. They held me in the detention center, telling the
public that I was planning to go to Beijing to appeal and that I had been caught
in the act. On June 21, 2000, most of the practitioners in our county went to
the "610 Office" in the government office building to request approval
for practicing outside since the weather had gotten warmer. On the surface, the
authorities seemed to sympathize with us and acted as if they thought our
request reasonable. In fact, they were fooling us, pretending they had a guilty
conscience and replying that the matter would be considered for discussion; in
fact, they sent police and armed soldiers to surround the government office
building, announcing to the public that we were attacking the county government. The leaders of the practitioners' work units and their families all came.
They witnessed that each of us were speaking calmly to the authorities while the
soldiers and police officers downstairs were monitoring us with their guns fully
loaded. They also set up machine guns as if to be prepared for a confrontation
with a formidable enemy. Several leaders of the work units laughed upon seeing
such a ridiculous exaggeration of this innocuous matter. The "610 Office" released us during the day in full view of the
public. However, they ransacked each of our homes during the evening, arresting
us and saying that Falun Dafa practitioners were trying to overthrow the
government. The next morning, they sent more than ten people to beat us in the
detention center. Lu Shifeng and the deputy director of the "610
Office," Su Duoli, were the most malicious. They were kicking us with their
leather shoes, and beating us with their fists; pulling in any practitioner in
sight to beat them. I was injured in several places by Su Duoli's violent kicks.
After they released us, I was illegally monitored and followed on a regular
basis and my phone line was tapped for a long period of time. These lawless
officials prevented the practitioners from contacting each other. We were
accused of holding illegal assemblies or rallies whenever practitioners were
occasionally seen to meet and speak to each other on the street. In August 2000, I went to my mother's home to help harvest rice. Police
officer Wu Yongchang, who was monitoring me, suspected me of planning to go to
Beijing again. He called for several police cars to chase me through the bus and
train stations. They went to the Huaihua Train Station to pursue me. They
searched in the railway compartments one after another. Their ruthless actions
disrupted my family, my work unit, relatives and the atmosphere of the entire
county. In December 2000, I was compelled to appeal in Beijing again. I was arrested
and illegally sentenced to forced labor without any legal procedures. After they
secretly sent me to the labor camp, they did not inform my family, but instead
extorted 3,000 yuan from them. In the past five years, the Huitong "610 Office" and the Political
Security Department of the Huitong County Police Station have not only illegally
deprived me of my personal freedom, but they have also infringed on my basic
right to living my life. Since November 1999, almost all of my salary has been
taken by the "610 Office." The total sum I have received during this
time has been less than one year's salary. The first time the "610 Office" and the Political Security
Department detained me, they forcibly took three months of my salary.
Afterwards, they often created false charges to imprison me for terms lasting up
to three months, until they finally took all my salary. My husband had reported to the higher authorities at the Disciplinary
Inspection Department, relating the illegal and unprofessional conduct of the
Huitong "610 Office" personnel and the police in unreasonably
mistreating Falun Dafa practitioners. He explained how these actions were not in
accordance with any discipline or the law. He requested an investigation into
the fact that I had been illegally persecuted many times and was kept from
leading a secure and normal life. After the lawless officials learned of my husband's actions, they became more
hateful. In December 2000, they implicated my husband under the pretext that I
was appealing in Beijing, in order to vent their personal spite. They revoked
many of his official titles, such as Vice Section Chief of Forestry, Team Leader
of Disciplinary Inspection, and Chairman of a union, and relegated him to be a
guard at the gate. He was unable to return to his former work until 2002, and
when he did return, he had completely lost his former position and status. Around 11 p.m. on April 3, 2002, the "610 Office" commanded the
police substation to abduct me and to bring me to the detention center again.
They said to my husband that I was only going to a brainwashing session for two
days. Because I didn't cooperate with the authorities and refused to renounce
Falun Dafa, I was held for a long time. Police officer Yang Jinping, Head of the
Political Security Section, shouted loudly in front of my husband, "Put her
in jail and leave her there until she dies!" Between August and September 2002, my husband became very sick and had no one
to care for him. Even under these circumstances, I was not released. My husband
died very early at the age of 52 because he was under such enormous strain. It
was not until my husband's death that I was permitted to return home to make his
funeral arrangements. The "610 Office" still ordered that police
officer Wu Yongchang, and others, monitor the funeral hall around the clock. In June 2003, I clarified the truth about Falun Dafa and the persecution in
the countryside and was arrested and taken to the county police station. On the
same evening, I escaped with righteous thoughts. I cannot go home now. In order
to persecute me, the lawless officials have resorted to the despicable means of
pursuing, ambushing, and offering rewards for my arrest. They have also
threatened my relatives and friends in many ways, even illegally searching their
apartments. They called my son, telling him to return home, and then illegally abducted
him. They held him for five days trying to extort a confession as to my
whereabouts. The 500 yuan which my son had with him was also taken away. In
order to completely cut off our financial resources, my bank account was
illegally frozen by the "610 Office." May 7, 2004 (1) The "610 Office": an agency specifically created to persecute
Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party
