Details of the Torture and Murder of Dafa Practitioner Mr. Liu Dongxue in Mancheng County, Hebei Province (Photo)

[This article was written three years after Dafa practitioner Liu Dongxue died of torture. It tells the details of the tortures that he suffered because he practiced Falun Gong, and is meant to expose the bloody persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners by Jiang's followers so that all the kind people would no longer be deceived by the lies and slander.]

Liu Dongxue resided in Dalou Village, Shenxing Township, in Mancheng County of the greater Baoding Metropolis, Hebei Province. Being of upright disposition, he was dependable, thorough and always helpful. He was highly praised by his management and colleagues at the factory where he worked. Later Liu Dongxue suffered stomach cancer, and the factory only offered him one year of medical reimbursement. After that Liu was on his own, without any financial assistance from the factory, and not even his salary.

Dongxue became very depressed under the torment of illness and destitution. He started to smoke and drink, and his temper flared up. He would often get into fights with his wife for no apparent reason. All the pressure to take care of their children and her sick husband fell on his wife's shoulder. The stressful life went on for more than ten years. Finally, someone introduced Dongxue to a wonderful cultivation practice called Falun Gong. Dongxue gave it a try and started practicing Falun Gong. It did not take long for several difficult diseases to miraculously go into remission. He became happier and more optimistic. Life was more harmonious for the entire family. He went back to work at the factory. The whole family was very grateful to Teacher and Dafa who saved Dongxue's life and the whole family.

Less than two months after Dongxue returned to work, on July 20, 1999, the brutal persecution against Dafa practitioners by the Jiang's regime started. The management at the textile factory where Dongxue worked also was deceived by the propaganda. One of the managers asked Dongxue, "Are you still going to practice Falun Gong?" Dongxue replied, "All my ailments got cured because I practiced Falun Gong, and without spending a single cent. Dafa taught us to live by the principle of Truth, Compassion, Forbearance. We must be a good person wherever we are." Still, the factory management reported him to the County "610 Office,"(1) resulting in his arrest by Zhao Yuxia and other people from the local County Public Security Bureau. He was detained for 15 days at the county detention center and fined.

Afterwards, Liu Dongxue went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and was arrested and sent back to the County Detention Center by Zhao Yuxia and others from the County Public Security Bureau. Regardless of how the inmates abused him at the detention center, Dongxue adhered to the principle of Truth, Compassion, Forbearance in his conduct. For example, if some inmates did not have clothes or blankets, he would give them his own. He would buy personal articles for inmates in need and charge them to his own account. During mealtimes, he would give his own rations to others who were still hungry. Often the meals would be snatched up with nothing left, yet Dongxue never tried to vie for the food. He would eat whatever was left over. Sometimes if he was too hungry he would rinse the empty porridge pot with some water and drink it.

During the winter of 1999, under the orders of the Jiang regime, the Mancheng Detention Center carried out brutal tortures against Dafa practitioners. The guards forced Dongxue to do hard labor. They forced him to sleep on the floor and prohibited him from practicing Falun Gong. Because Dongxue insisted on practicing, the officials at the detention center, from the head down to the instructors, all scolded and beat him. They used bamboo stick to whip him. If he sat in meditation, they would hit his legs. If he did the standing exercises, they would hit his hands and arms. Once when Dongxue was doing the standing exercise, the guards hung him upside down. Yet Dongxue still managed to do the "holding the wheel" (2) position upside down!

The guards also coerced inmates to curse and beat him. They wore his clothes, spent his money and ate his meals. They pushed and slammed his head against the wall and the wall heater. Dongxue became dangerously thin and feeble from the torture. The "610 Office" of the Public Security Bureau, together with Zhao Hongxiang at the detention center tried to force Dongxue to give up his faith in "Truth, Compassion, Forbearance" by having guards and inmates torture him with a variety of means. His body had new wounds on top of old ones. His shirt's sleeves were torn to pieces and buttons were torn off.

Once the deputy head of the detention center hit Dongxue's head with a piece of plywood and lacerated his head. One of his ears was torn apart. Zhao Hongxiang, who was the head of the detention center, ordered the inmates to curse and beat him, and to insult and humiliate him. They smeared feces on his body, and forced him to eat it. They stripped him naked and forced him to lie on the ground. When the inmates became sympathetic towards Dongxue after they got to know him, Zhao Hongxiang and the guards transferred Dongxue to another cell to begin another round of torture. After Dongxue went through all the cells, he was tortured beyond recognition. He was finally released after more than 150 days and nights of torture, and after he went on hunger strike, and not until he had more than 3,000 Yuan (3) extorted from him.

In November 2000, the County "610 Office" organized illegal brainwashing classes. Each attendee would be forced to pay a 500-Yuan fee. Liu Dongxue was tricked into attending the brainwashing class and tortured. They attempted to force him to transform, and to curse Dafa and Teacher. However, Dongxue told them the truth about Dafa. One of the persecutors named Chen scolded and slapped him. Later, Chen asked the guards to handcuff Dongxue tightly to the wall heater, causing his hand to swell. They tortured Dongxue for another 8 days.

In order to tell people the truth about Dafa, Dongxue made one hundred banners in January 2001. The banners read, "Falun Dafa is Good" and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good." He hung the banners on small trees along the highway. On January 1, 2001 he was taken to the Shenxing police station, and then sent to the County Detention Center. Dongxue went on hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. Each day the guards ordered inmates to drag him out of the cell on the ground to the outside of the courtyard and then several inmates would force feed him. They deliberately inserted the feeding tube in a rough manner, causing considerable pain and often bleeding in his nose and mouth. Because Dongxue refused to give up his belief, the inmates and guards tortured him every day. The whole detention center could hear his screams of agony. Many times, the guards locked him up in a one cubic meter sized iron cage, with his head sticking out of the cage, but he could not stand up or sit down. There are no words to describe the suffering and the pain of this torture. Furthermore, the inmates would kick the cage so that it rolled around and Dongxue could not even yell out. After 3 months Dongxue had again become emaciated due to the abuse . His senses weakened, and he weighed only 66 pounds. The Mancheng County "610 Office" and detention center deputies were afraid to be responsible for Dongxue's condition. They transferred him to Jizhong prison. Jizhong prison was afraid that he could die and transferred him to the Tangshan Labor Camp for further tortures. All along Dongxue continued his hunger strike to protest the illegal detention.

On May 23 Tangshan Labor Camp notified Dongxue's family to take him back. When his family went to get him he was still cuffed to the bed in the cell, and he was virtually naked. He was so thin that he was beyond recognition, and he weighed less than 55 pounds. The next morning, Dongxue passed away.

It was Dafa that gave Liu Dongxue his second life, but it was Jiang that took away his precious life.
