Cases of Falun Dafa Practitioners Persecuted in Dengshahe Town, Dalian City, Liaoning Province

(Clearwisdom.net) The following Falun Dafa practitioners have been persecuted in Denshahe Town, Dalian City, Liaoning Province since 1999.

Qian Shusong went to Beijing in February 2000. Police officers Mou Baojian and Yang Lichang arrested her and fined her 5000 yuan. When Qian Shusong and other practitioners were found practicing Falun Gong exercises in the prison, they were beaten with leather whips. Zhang Shuquan, the prison doctor, was responsible.

Qin Shulan (female) went to Beijing to appeal on February 10, 2000, and was arrested at Tiananmen Square the same day. A policeman from Dengshahe Town, who had been sent to Beijing to monitor Falun Gong practitioners, detained her for one day in Beijing. In the evening, officers from Dengshahe Township arrived to pick her up. She was forced into a police car and handcuffed for 14 hours. The police officers involved were Duan Honghai, Ji Changyang, and Mou Baojian. The next day, she was sent to the Sanli Detention Center in Jinzhou and was detained there for 15 days. She had to pay a 5,200-yuan fine. Mou Baojian and Yang Lichang took 200 yuan for themselves.

On November 5, 2000, Qin Shulan again went to Beijing to appeal. The following day she was arrested and taken to the Shahe Police Station, where the head of the station Wang Jian punched and kicked her. At noon on November 7, she was again sent to the Sanli Detention Center in Jingzhou, this time for 75 days. On January 19, 2001, she was sentenced to three years in a labor camp. She has yet to be released.

Qiu Shujing (female) went to Beijing to appeal on November 8, 2001. On the bus to Beijing, someone tried to force her to curse Teacher. When she refused, the person confiscated her 140-yuan bus ticket to Beijing and called the train station police officer Huang Yong to arrest her. She was detained in a drug rehabilitation [often used as detention centers for Falun Gong practitioners] center in Dalian and had to pay an 8,000-yuan fine.

Wang Juan (female) set out for Beijing to appeal on January 19, 2001, but was arrested in Wafangdian. She was sent to Jinzhou Detention Center for 15 days and fined 3,000 yuan. About midnight on January 22, 2001, two police officers from Dengshahe Police Station, Wen Guangyuan and Sun Tong, tricked her into going to the police station and detained her there for 64 days.

Xu Lianxiong went to Beijing to appeal in the middle of March 2000. She was arrested in Tiananmen Square and detained for 15 days in Jinzhou Detention Center. She was fined 3,000 yuan after she returned home.

Wu Jinjuan (female) was on her way to Beijing to validate the Fa on February 22, 2000, when the train station police arrested her at Wafangdian City. When the Dengshahe Police Station was notified, she was taken from Wafangdian to Sanli Prison in Jinzhou and detained for 15 days. She was fined 3,000 yuan. In addition, police officers Mou Baojian and Wen Guangyuan confiscated 200 yuan from her in order to pay for their meals and gasoline.

Zhao Yunxiang (female) used to suffer from a severe illness but had never been able to afford treatment. She learned about Falun Dafa on October 3, 1997. Like millions of other practitioners, she studied the Falun Dafa teachings and raised her moral character; her illness disappeared. She had heartfelt gratitude to Teacher for saving her and her family. On July 20, 1999, Falun Dafa was subjected to wrongful attacks. In order to let the government know the facts about Falun Dafa, she exercised her constitutional right to appeal to higher authorities.

She arrived in Beijing on December 12, 2000. Plainclothes and uniformed police were everywhere in Tiananmen Square. She was arrested and taken to a police station in Beijing. Later she was transferred to the Dalian liaison office in Beijing where she was searched. Her last 100 yuan was confiscated by police. Zhao Yunxiang was handcuffed to a small stool and left on the concrete floor for an entire day and night. She was photographed and interrogated.

On the afternoon of December 15, Dengshahe policeman Wen Guangyuan escorted her back to Jingzhou District Police Station by train. On the train, she and another practitioner were chained together, but each woman had her own personal police guard. A thief stole a cellular phone from a passenger sitting across from the two policemen. Everyone in the compartment was very angry that a thief could steal in front of policemen and get away unpunished. The next day, Zhao Yunxiang was sent to Jinzhou Detention Center where she was persecuted for one month.

Zhao Yunxiang went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The prison doctor Zhang Shuquan injured her throat causing her to spit up blood. The Dengshahe police made her husband pay a fine of 10,000 yuan before releasing her home. Since then, several people from the Jinzhou District; Li Wanxiang, Sheng Lihua, and Qin Wude from the Dengshahe government; the village party secretary Zhao Yizeng, Director for Women's Affairs Liu Shulan; and Public Security Officer Zhang Shurong frequently came to her house to harass her. The village leaders also used people who did not know the facts about Falun Gong to monitor her around the clock. The village public security officer Zhang Shurong went to her house and confiscated her identification card. It is now known that all practitioners' identification cards had been taken away and locked up in the police station. These actions have severely restricted practitioners ability to work, travel, and conduct their daily business.

Wang Guiqin, female, began practicing Falun Dafa on April 15, 1997. In July 1999, when the persecution against Falun Dafa first began, nine Falun Dafa volunteer assistants were arrested overnight in Dalian City. Several fellow practitioners went to the city government and kindly asked the government for an explanation of the unwarranted arrest.

The Dalian City police violently dispersed the Dafa practitioners, who conducted themselves non-violently and in an orderly manner, and beat a male practitioner whose watch was knocked to the ground. Over the next two days, policemen rounded up all Falun Dafa practitioners in a central location and then transported them by truck to a school where they were detained. (At that time, the school was not in session because of summer vacation.) When the practitioners returned from Dalian to their hometown, village officials sent them to the police station, where they were interrogated and photographed. They were forced to stand facing a wall until midnight.

On July 20, the Chinese Central TV Station reversed their position from reporting positively about Falun Gong and under government order began broadcasting defamatory statements and propaganda against Falun Gong. The town government immediately organized some people who did not know all the facts about Falun Gong to start producing news programs framing Falun Gong for various fabricated incidents. Town officials forced the practitioners to watch these programs and forced Wang Guiqin to make a self-criticizing speech on a stage in front of everyone. Instead, Wang took the opportunity to tell everyone, "After I learned about Falun Gong, my illness was cured, and I no longer wanted to a bad person, I wanted to be a good person. I believe in real science and walk on the path I choose." After that, the town government started to monitor all Falun Gong practitioners and frequently went to the villages to obtain their fingerprints for a nationwide registration and force them to write guarantee letters stating they would renounce their belief. To protest this persecution, all of those practitioners went to Beijing to appeal to the higher authorities during the Chinese Spring Festival. On February 6, 2000, Village Head, Zhao Yichong, went to Wang Guiqin's house, took a hammer out of his pocket, and smashed her cooking pot in front of her. [Note: people living in the villages are very poor and do not have many material possessions. A cooking pot which can feed a large family is as indispensable to a poor villager as a washing machine or other major appliance might be to a city dweller] Wang Guiqin displayed a peaceful nature that she developed from living according to the principle of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance, in the face of this harassment. She did not waiver in her belief that it is not a crime to want to be a good person.

On February 13, 2000, Wang Guiqin wanted to go to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. However, she was arrested in Shenyang just as she bought her Beijing train ticket. Policemen searched her and found she only had 5 yuan in her pocket [approximately USD $0.60]. Another practitioner was also arrested at the same time. Policemen locked both of them in a same room. The next day, policeman Wang Jiang and two others from Denshahe Police Station took them back and detained them for 15 days. Their families had to pay a 3,000-yuan fine (1).

Ever since Wang Guiqin went to Beijing to appeal, policemen and officials from the town, village, and district frequently went to her house to harass her. Li Wanxiang, Shen Lihua, and Qin Debin from the town government often went to her house. They would open her tape recorder and confiscate the audio tape containing the Falun Gong exercise music. They also seized Falun Gong books. Wen Guangyuan, Zheng XX, and Song XX from Denshahe Police Station and Zhao Yizeng, Zhang Shuying, and Liu Shulan from the village also frequently went her house to harass her. The village also hired some veteran Party members and her relatives to watch her closely. They forbade her from any contact with other practitioners. The town government forced her to listen to speeches by brainwashed practitioners who were now spouting the government propaganda and tried to force her to turn in her books containing Falun Gong teachings. They also sent some people to interrogate her and subject her to endless discussions in an attempt to disorient and brainwash her. Here, she solemnly announces to all people that all guarantee letters she wrote under pressure are null and void. She will always be a good person. Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance is the universal law. She will walk along the path forever.

In Jingzhou Detention Center, family members are extorted a fee of 200 yuan by the authorities to buy the privilege of visiting. Otherwise, they won't be allowed to see their family members even though the law guarantees they have the right to see them. One can of Sprite soda sells for 5 yuan outside; in the detention center visiting family members must pay 10 yuan. In the detention center, practitioners are forced to work from 6:00 a.m. until 7 or 8 p.m. collecting seaweed for forced labor projects.
