Canada: Mayor of the City of Port Moody Proclaims Falun Dafa Month Honouring Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance [April 27, 2004]

(Clearwisdom.net) On April 27, 2004, Mayor Joe Trasolini of the City of Port Moody, Canada, proclaimed the month of May, 2004, as "Falun Dafa Month Honouring Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" in the City of Port Moody.

Proclamation

Whereas, Falun Dafa promotes the cultivation of body, mind, and spirit through the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance", gentle exercises and meditation, bringing its practitioners better health and higher moral standards since it was brought to the public in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi;

And Whereas, The former president of China's ban on this peaceful practice and subsequent persecution has continued, unceasingly from July 1999, to present;

And Whereas, The enormous human rights violations, documented by reputable organizations, and the large body of direct testimony from inside China highlights a reality of the Crimes Against Humanity, that affect every man, woman and child in China, and unavoidable, Canadian citizens as well;

And Whereas, The commitment of Falun Dafa practitioners to the peaceful resolution of conflicts under the most severe environment and their efforts to promote rule of law and uphold fundamental freedoms encourage humanity to strengthen our common resolve to uphold human rights;

And Whereas, Falun Dafa practitioners are joyously celebrating the 12^th anniversary of Falun Dafa's introduction to the public on May 13^th, 2004, with festivals and public celebrations to be held across Canada throughout the month of May;

Now, Therefore, I, Joe Trasolini, Mayor of the City of Port Moody, do hereby proclaim the month of May, 2004, as

"Falun Dafa Month Honouring Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance"
