Taiwan: Sharing a Private Collection of Famous Chinese Art While Calling for Justice (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) A touring "Exhibition of Renowned Modern Chinese Artists' Calligraphy and Paintings" has created a stir in Taiwan's literary and art circles during the past two months. The exhibition was held in the Wenying Exhibition Hall in Taichung City from April 24 to 29, 2004. For Ms. Dai Meiling, a Falun Gong practitioner from Australia, this was her eighth stop in Taiwan, bringing the authentic works of famous artists to the Taichung residents.

During the opening ceremony, Mr. Liao Yonglai, the Chief Executive of the Mid-Taiwan United Service Center of the Administration of Commerce, Mr. Xiao Jiaqi, the Deputy Mayor, and many legislators as well as Taichung City legislators spoke and greeted the audience, and expressed their admiration and appreciation to Ms. Dai for her selfless offering of the precious famous experts' calligraphy and painting to the public for free. Ms. Dai expressed in her speech that, many years ago, an immune system disease almost took her life. Falun Gong gave her a new life, and has also changed her outlook on life completely. The practice of "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance" that is central to Falun
Gong is what led her to share the artwork collected by generations in her family with the public.

The exhibition has attracted many civilians in every city in which it has been held. Many schoolteachers took this opportunity as a field trip for their students. And many Taichung government organizations such as the local courts, the local branch of the Supreme Court, the administrative courts, the local procuratoriate and the branch of the supreme procuratoriate arranged buses to send their employees to see the exhibition. The Wanying Exhibition Hall, which normally closes on Mondays, made an exception to open on the day of the exhibition. Practitioners volunteered as guides for the exhibition, putting extreme care into the work, and explaining the art is detail. The guides also helped the audience to understand the connections between Chinese traditional arts and cultivation practice, and helped them recognize the wonders of Falun Gong. Many people wanted to learn Falun Gong on the spot, and asked for Falun Gong materials and practice site information.

Ms. Dai expressed her appreciation for the support from all communities in Taiwan, and for the honored-guest-like courteous reception she received. The freedom of belief and the respect for human rights in Taiwan have moved her, because she could study the book and practice the exercises of Falun Gong with local practitioners at anytime. She clarified the truth, saying that there was a inhumane persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in China, that practitioners believe in "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance", and try to be good people who consider others first. Ms. Dai sincerely appealed to all the kind-hearted people to reach out a helping hand to Falun Gong practitioners being abused in China, and help stop the bloody persecution. This, she said, was her biggest wish.
