(Clearwisdom.net) On May 7, 2004, US Congressman Edolphus "Ed" Towns wrote a congratulatory letter to Falun Gong practitioners in New York, on the occasion of World Falun Dafa Day.

Congressman Towns wrote in his letter: "The principles enshrined by Falun Gong, those of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance, are universal human values that bridge cultures and people. Unfortunately, the regime in China has perceived this peaceful group as a threat to its own corrupt power. Despite grievous human rights violations and persecution, however, the Falun Gong continue to spread their message of peace. Their tremendous efforts deserve our respect, recognition and protection."
