The Facts Regarding the Death of Dafa Practitioner Mr. Song Gang, a Former Deputy Section Head at Yichun City's Government Legal and Law Office

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Song Gang, approximately 45 years old, had been a deputy section head at the Legal and Law Office of Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province. His wife Jin Yalan had been a leading doctor at the Yichun City Hospital. After her husband Song Gang died, she went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Dafa and to voice her grievance against her husband's unnecessary death. For exercising her constitutional rights, she was arrested and sentenced to three years of forced labor.

Song Gang used to suffer from heart disease, pulmonary tuberculosis and other diseases. He had also been diagnosed with lung cancer. He was not able to care for himself without assistance and had to stay in the hospital for long periods of time. The mental and physical pressure plunged him into despair.

In 1994 Song Gang learned to practice Falun Dafa. Shortly after he started practicing the Falun Dafa exercises, his health condition dramatically improved. He became better and better and no longer needed to stay in the hospital. Many of his acquaintances knew that he had been a patient with late-stage lung cancer and was cured through practicing Dafa. This apparent miracle attracted many of his friends to come to learn Falun Dafa.

On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin started the brutal persecution campaign against Falun Gong practitioners. Before the persecution was launched, the media in China had been positively reporting about Falun Gong. However, over night Jiang Zemin labeled Falun Gong an "illegal organization." Jiang and his followers openly trampled upon the rights contained within the Chinese Constitution as well as citizen's basic human rights. Numerous practitioners were deprived of their freedom of belief and freedom to appeal that were granted by the Chinese Constitution.

Song Gang went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa and was illegally arrested by the police. He was often interrogated during his detention and suffered brutal torture during the interrogation. In the end, seeing that he was at the verge of death, the police released him temporarily, for fear of taking the responsibility should he die in their custody. In order to monitor his movements more easily, the police forced him to go to work and closely followed him on his way to and from work.

Under such mental and physical stress Song Gang's health condition worsened and he died on January 28, 2001. He had gained a new life from practicing Falun Dafa and had defeated late-stage lung cancer, but he lost his regained life under the evil and brutal persecution.
