Two Incidents that Deepened My Understanding of the Importance of Clarifying the Truth

Clarifying the truth of Falun Dafa is a great mission that Master bestowed upon disciples to save sentient beings. It is glorious and sacred. In the past, I mixed in my strong mentality of fear, and failed to do well in many aspects while I clarified the truth. It was because I did not do it from the perspective of validating the Fa and from the starting point of saving sentient beings.

After continuously studying the Fa and reading the articles on Clearwisdom.net, I found the root of my attachment -- safeguarding myself. Meanwhile, I came to understand that by clarifying the truth and exposing the evil we are validating the Fa and saving sentient beings. We are doing the most righteous, the best, and the most sacred thing in the universe. It is selfless and unselfish.

When I became aware of this principle, my life suddenly took a new turn. I felt extremely clear-minded. Since then, I've told people openly and uprightly that I am a Falun Dafa practitioner in many situations such as with my work unit, at friends' parties, at shopping places, and so forth. I also clarified the truth to them. Teacher said,

"Every person you come into contact with in society is someone to clarify the truth to, and what's manifest in clarifying the truth is Dafa disciples' mercy and their salvation of the world's people."

My understanding is that we cannot intentionally classify who can be saved and who cannot when we clarify the truth. We should have hearts of compassion, wholeheartedly saving people regardless of their profession or age.

One time when I was going to the home of a fellow practitioner, a little boy came over from the bank of the river. He was a teenager, and looked a bit retarded. A thought of wanting to clarify the truth to him came to my mind. After I talked to him a few moments, I asked him, "Can I write a few words and test you whether you can read them or not?" Then I wrote on the ice the words, "Falun Dafa is good." He could read them all. I praised him. But he asked me, "What is good about Falun Dafa?" I then told him how Falun Dafa teaches people to be good people. He listened very attentively. At the end, I told him that he must remember that Falun Dafa is good, and he agreed. When I was about to leave, he suddenly said, "I understand." His voice was real but remote, and shook my heart. I could hardly believe this sentence came out the mouth of this little boy.

I understood that it was the boy's side that had been awakened that said this sentence. I could not express the kind of feeling I had at that moment, more clearly realizing the importance of clarifying the truth. The little boy understood, and I, too, understood better! This matter certainly made me more confident in clarifying the truth.

Teacher said in "Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. Fa Conference,"

"Wherever there's a problem, that is where you need to clarify the truth and save people. Don't take a detour when you run into difficulties. When you see something that does us harm, or when you see something blocking our validating the Fa, don't take a detour-you should face it, and clarify the truth and save those beings."

One morning in April, I found out that the school was going to show videos slandering Falun Gong. I decided that these people couldn't be allowed to poison the students.

I sent forth righteous thoughts while walking to the party secretary's office. I explained my purpose. The party secretary knew that I practiced Falun Dafa and had once talked to me about it. I also clarified the truth to him, and he was not against Falun Dafa. He asked me to be careful. When I asked the reason for the matter mentioned above, he said, with the feeling that there were no alternatives, "The task is required by the County Education Bureau. They told us to show videos to students slandering Dafa as opposing 'superstition.' They will inspect." Hearing this, I explained to him the possible negative results. I asked him not to do this out of incorrect thinking since this could lead to more than 1,000 teachers and students being poisoned and harmed, and himself being a historical criminal. He sighed and said, "I have to carry out the orders from those above me. There are no alternatives." Seeing this, I went back to my office and sent forth righteous thoughts unceasingly, with the purpose of eliminating completely the evil dark minions that would poison and harm the students. When it got close to the time for showing the video, I went to see the party secretary again and continued to clarify the truth, with a heart for completely saving the students and for his good as well.

The party secretary was moved. He told me that the Education Bureau had distributed more than ten CDs to the school. Most of them contained elements of slander against Falun Dafa. He asked me to go and talk to the teacher who was in charge of showing the videos. He said, "You can select one that you think is OK. Use one class period to show it. Don't worry if there isn't enough time to finish showing the video. We just need enough to deal with the inspection."

I went to the main control room and found the teacher who was in charge. I told her what the party secretary had said. All teachers in the school knew that I practiced Falun Dafa. She told me that she had watched some of the CDs. One of them was a movie that did not contain elements of slander against Falun Dafa. I left after I confirmed that the CD did not contain such content. All the teachers were notified to go and see it. They showed the movie that did not contain content slandering Falun Dafa.

After reflecting on what happened, I asked myself why I always clarified the truth when there was a problem. It seemed that I was reacting to a move made by the evil elements, and passively dealing with the problem instead of taking the initiative. This was an omission!

Master said in "Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Atlanta Fa Conference,"

"In validating the Fa, you should do well the three things Dafa disciples need to do, and everything is encompassed in them. So I say that the most important goal for you in clarifying the truth is to save even more beings in the process. This is what's foremost, and this is the real purpose of clarifying the truth."

After reading Teacher's Fa, I felt ashamed. I have always come from a heart of selfishness and thinking only of myself. Although I have always felt fortunate for being a Falun Dafa disciple, I did not place clarifying the truth and saving sentient beings as my first priority. We are Falun Dafa disciples, the beings forged by the greatest Fa and those responsible for the future universe that can rectify all abnormal things. Therefore, we should proactively clarify the truth to all walks of life in society at the same time.

After sharing, several local practitioners and I reached the same understanding. Apart from clarifying the truth face-to-face and distributing the truth-clarifying CDs and materials, we will clarify the truth to government officials, policemen, teachers, parents, and students by writing letters to them.

Through these two incidents, I've understood the importance of clarifying the truth in saving sentient beings!
