In the not so distant past, China's educational system was rocked by the turbulence of a political campaign known as the "Cultural Revolution." During that time, students were dragged into the political turmoil surrounding the nation and classrooms lost their environment for quiet study while teachers lost their lecture podiums. The Chinese people will not forget the huge trauma that the Cultural Revolution brought to the nation, to teachers and to students. In a similar tactic, Jiang and his followers have created a systematic approach to incite public hatred and poison the young minds of the nation against Falun Gong, thus affecting the entire Chinese population and not just Falun Gong practitioners.

In the beginning of 2004, Jiang Zemin encouraged his confidant, Chen Zhili, the current Secretary of the Department of Education, to start a campaign throughout the nation's educational system under the slogan, "Fight the XX (slanderous words omitted) and Alert the Educational System!" Chen Zhili created the slogan, "Fight the XX," to defame Falun Gong, a peaceful practice based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance, to incite hatred and to form support for Jiang's persecution policies. This is the second time that Jiang and his followers have attempted to poison and corrupt Chinese youth since 2001, when they conducted the "One Million Signature" campaign to attack Falun Gong.

Falun Gong practitioners strive to be good persons by following the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." After experiencing positive changes in both mind and body, all genuine disciples clearly realize the profundity and miraculous benefits of Falun Dafa. During the Jiang regime's campaign to frame and persecute Falun Gong, those teachers and students who reject the fabricated lies spread by the Chinese government, and persist in speaking the truth about Falun Dafa, have been cruelly persecuted by the schools, the "610 Offices,"(1) and the police. The injustices and mistreatment they have received include being expelled from school, loss of jobs, discrimination, threats, detention, beatings, brainwashing, being forced to leave their homes to avoid further persecution, and even death. The persecution cases described in this article are just a few of the numerous cases that have occurred.

Mr. Wang Dayuan, 36, a Harbin City resident, was a lecturer and faculty member of the School of Computer Science and Technology at the Harbin Institute of Technology. In November of 2002, the police arrested him and ransacked his home. He was detained for several months, after which Harbin City's Nangang Court sentenced him to an eight-year prison term, to be served at Harbin City's First Prison. The Nangang Court's criminal division (phone 86-451-82704734) confirmed with this reporter that Wang's case was found in the 2003 case archives, and the person in charge of this case was Chen Shouchang.

Clearwisdom.net learned from inside sources that on April 2, in order to compel him to write a statement criticizing Falun Gong, the prison guards took turns beating him, making him stand in painful postures for an entire day, and did not give him any food. On April 3, under extreme pressure from the continued violent beatings, Wang Dayuan was forced to write a self-criticism statement. Later he felt much regret for writing it, and on April 4 he tore-up the statement.

This exasperated the guards, and they increased the intensity of the torture on him. Finally, Wang could not even stand upright, so the guards made him crawl down the hall, and then threw him into a storage room. On April 5, Wang was on his last breath, but the guards still forced him to work. After the guards again violently beat him at noon, Wang stopped breathing.

Inside sources also revealed that after Wang's death, the prison tried to cover up this information, hide the truth from the world, and shirk its responsibility by claiming that three inmates had killed Wang. Wang Dayuan left behind a young wife, a small child, and elderly parents.

Mr. Zhang Chuansheng, 54, an Associate Professor from Chengdu University, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province: because he persisted in Falun Gong cultivation, he died on February 15, 2002 from being beaten and strangled by the police at the Chengdu City Detention Center.

Six years ago, Zhang suffered from several illnesses, and he started to practice Falun Gong. After he started cultivation, he quickly recovered from his illnesses. He was deeply moved by reading Zhuan Falun, and has followed the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" in every aspect of his life. His colleagues, neighbors, friends, and family members all praise and respect him.

Falun Gong has been persecuted in China since July 1999. After the persecution began, out of his good, truthful, and kind nature, Zhang told the people who were deceived by Jiang's slanderous propaganda the facts about how he benefited from Falun Gong. For this, the government authorities continually harassed him. They justified his persecution by claiming that "his mind was not reformed [to give up Falun Dafa]."

Just before the 2002 Spring Festival, Zhang went back to his hometown of Ya'an with his wife and 6-year-old daughter. The next day, on the eve of the lunar New Year, personnel from the Chengdu City Simaqiao Police Station, along with a Chengdu University administrator, traveled to his hometown to abduct him. They told him that there was an urgent matter that they needed to discuss with him. They forcibly arrested him and told his family that he would be released in 24 hours. It was just past 4:00 p.m., and his family begged them to let him finish the New Year's Eve dinner (which traditionally involves the reunion of the entire family). The police refused their request and detained Zhang in Chengdu City Detention Center.

Several days later, at 11:00 p.m., Simaqiao Police Station personnel notified Zhang's family that Zhang Chuansheng died at 9:00 a.m. on February 15, due to a heart attack.

The dead body was a frightening sight. Zhang's face was swollen, and a greenish, purple, and black color. There were many bloodstains on his face and mouth. On his neck there was a deep purple-green mark that was the width of two fingers. Zhang's family asked for the reason. The police answered, "His hands were in tight fists. We were not intending to beat or choke him to death, and we were trying to open his fists." Immediately, the police threatened Zhang's family members, "The whole family will be in danger if any one of you dares to tell the cause of Zhang Chuansheng's death!"

Instead of being praised and recognized by the government and the university's administration, this 54-year-old professor, who had worked so hard in the field of education for over 30 years, and helpfully guided numerous students, was brutally beaten and choked to death. Chengdu City Police Department persecutors and Chengdu University administrators killed him.

According to a Minghui [the Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net] May 18, 2004 report, Mr. He Dacui, a 53-year-old teacher from Zhongxin Elementary School in Huangjia Township, Dazhu County, Sichuan Province, was reported to the governmental authorities for telling the students, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance is good. Falun Dafa is good!" A deceived villager, who did not know the truth about the practice, denounced Mr. He Dacui. The county "610 Office" leader, Li Yuexue, with the aid of county national security policeman Li Xianhua and others, abducted Mr. He. He Dacui endured all kinds of torture in the county detention center. On August 8, 2003, the county court issued a guilty verdict for the so-called "crime of sabotaging law enforcement," and secretly sentenced Mr. He to five years of forced labor. He Dacui is currently detained in Chengdu City's Longquanyi Prison.

Later, the county "610 Office," the county Party committee, and the educational department leaders also "handled" He's school leaders. They used the excuse of "changing the duties," and forcibly removed from their teaching duties more than 70 schoolteachers in the county who practice Falun Gong. Subsequently, they threatened the teachers with discontinuing their contracts or losing their jobs. They used the "five criteria," which are adopted in labor camps for brainwashing purposes, to try to brainwash these teachers. Every teacher was required to "pass the test," and indicate his or her attitude toward Falun Gong. Only those who have accepted the brainwashing by renouncing Falun Gong can return to teach.

These teachers come from many townships and towns. All of them have both teaching abilities and high morals. They are experts in educating the students. Many students and their parents

let it be known that they were dissatisfied with the removal of so many good teachers from their teaching roles.

Ms. Chen Ying, 17, was a first-year high school student from the Shuren School, Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. On July 22, 1999, Chen went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa in order to clarify the truth to people. She was arrested, and on August 16, 1999, when she was being returned to her hometown from Beijing, the police beat and verbally abused her. She jumped from the train to her death.

Liu Qian, a 12-year-old girl and a third-grade student at the Gegezhuang Village Elementary School, Hebei Province, was diagnosed on November 15, 2003 to be suffering from acute leukemia. Seven days after she started practicing Falun Gong, she completely recovered. Unfortunately, her school did not allow her to continue her studies, simply because she would not give up her practice of Falun Gong. Being a young child, Liu Qian was unable to deal with this cruel situation. She suddenly passed away on the 22^nd day of the first month of the Lunar New Year of 2004.

On February 18, 2004, student Wang Zhe from the No. 1 Senior High School in Changtu County, Liaoning Province, clarified the truth about Falun Gong to the teachers at the school, regarding the slandering of Falun Dafa practitioners by the director of the political and educational department. He was subsequently expelled from school, and on April 6, Wang Zhe and his mother went to the school, requesting that Wang Zhe be re-admitted in accordance with the law. However, the school principal, Sun Yuhui, reported this to the police department. After the report, the deputy party secretary of the county and several members of the national security section arrested Wang Zhe and detained him in a county detention center.

Ai Dan, a Middle School Girl in Chenzhou City is Deprived of Her Education for Promoting "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance"

Ai Dan, a fourteen-year old girl, was a student in the second grade at Heyeping Middle School in Suxian District, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province. In order to encourage people to follow "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance," Ai Dan began to promote Dafa to the teachers and students around her. By the second semester of 2001, some of her classmates wanted to practice Falun Dafa and were reading Zhuan Falun. One of the classmates who did not know the facts about Falun Gong reported her to the teacher. Afraid of being implicated, the teacher reported her to the school authorities. The school's headmaster then reported to the district "610 Office," and confiscated her copy of Zhuan Falun. He yelled at Ai Dan, "How dare you lead other students to practice Falun Gong!" Officials from the "610 Office" came to the school immediately, ordered these students to stop taking classes, and interrogated them. Ai Dan was expelled from school.

Ms. Zhang Conghui, an 18-year-old student at the Xuanhua First High School in Chicheng County, Hebei Province, was urged to drop out of school right before the opening of the "Two National Conferences" [The People's Congress Conference and Political Consulting Conference] in 2004, simply because she wrote a note to a boy saying, "Please remember Falun Dafa is good." On February 24, Ms. Zhang went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa and was arrested and sent to a detention center. She was then taken to a brainwashing center in Zhangjiakou City. Faced with the persecution and pressure, Zhang refused to give up her belief. The authorities threatened to send her to a forced labor camp, which caused her family a great deal of anxiety. This was the second incident in which the local Chinese authorities deprived a youngster of the right to a proper education. In 2001, they illegally jailed a 16-year-old female high school student for over seven months in a similar situation.

Ms. Wang Lin, a 17-year-old middle school student, lived in Machang, Suileng County, Heilongjiang Province. In July 2002, Wang Lin took a joint entrance exam for a provincial high school. The political section of the exam contained a question defaming Falun Gong. Wang Lin answered the question truthfully stating, "Falun Dafa is good, and Falun Dafa is the righteous Fa." This resulted in officials from the county political and judiciary committee, the police department, and the education committee coming to arrest her. Wang left home to avoid further persecution, and her parents were beaten by personnel from the "610 Office." In May 2003, Wang Lin was working in Harbin City when she was abducted by police and detained in Suileng. The chief from Suileng County "610 Office" said, "Detain her until she turns legal age, then sentence her [in China only persons over 18 years old can be sentenced].

Huang Jing, a second-year junior high school student at Yucai Middle School, Chengdu City, believes in Falun Dafa and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." She was reported by a classmate for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to students in the school. The school's Political Section tried to force Huang Jing to give up practicing Falun Gong, but Huang Jing would not give in, because she firmly believes Falun Dafa to be a righteous practice that teaches people to be good. After a new semester started, Jing once again clarified the truth about Falun Gong to her schoolmates, but the school authorities forced her to terminate her studies. Now Huang Jing has to look for a school willing to accept her.

(1) "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
