Georgia: Falun Gong Practitioners Expose the Persecution by Jiang's Group in Savannah and Brunswick
(Clearwisdom.net) During the G8 Summit held in
Georgia, Falun Gong practitioners informed the public of the persecution imposed
upon Falun Gong practitioners by Jiang's group using real-life models to
replicate torture methods, photo display boards and peaceful exercises. The Savannah Morning News reported on Tuesday, June 9,
2004 that Falun Gong practitioners peacefully appealed in Savannah and
Brunswick. About 15 Falun Gong practitioners from Atlanta practiced the
exercises in Savannah's Reynolds Square. They planned to meet there each day
during the summit. Posted around them were 30-40 photos of Falun Gong
practitioners' peaceful appeals around the world. The report stated that in Brunswick, about 40 yellow-shirted
Falun Gong practitioners lined U.S. 17 at Overlook Park to peacefully appeal.
They held banners, acted out graphic displays and distributed literature
accusing Jiang's group of routinely torturing and killing practitioners. The report indicated that photo displays depict people beaten
to death, with frostbitten toes, broken limbs and burns, all from torture in
labor camps, as the practitioners stated. Thirty-four year old Chen Gang said he knew firsthand:
"The local police threw me in a labor camp. Just because we practice Falun
Gong. No other reason was needed." Chen Gang, now a U.S. citizen working in the import-export
business, said his torture included being kept awake 15 days straight and bound
with his chin against his knees. He said, "I could not walk for two weeks
after that torture." Yeong-ching Foo of Santa Clara is working for the release of
her fiancé, Dr. Charles Lee. The report stated that Charles Lee traveled back
to China where he was arrested at the airport as he tried to show a tape
clarifying the truth about the persecution in China. Lee was sentenced to three
years of forced labor and has been force fed and beaten. Ms. Foo told reporters, "Right now he's being forced to
do slave labor. They're trying to get him to confess to a crime he didn't commit
and to renounce his belief." Ms. Foo said she noticed that the G-8 leaders
would talk about terrorism. She said "I want to tell them about
terrorism." She told a reporter, "I'm able to talk to you, he is
there. He may not be able to see the sun."
