California, U.S.A.: San Diego County Celebrates Falun Dafa Week; Several Government Officials Issue Proclamations (Photos)


(Clearwisdom.net) On the afternoon of May 29, in the city library of Chula Vista, a city near the Mexico border, Falun Gong practitioners in the San Diego region held a celebration for the first Falun Dafa Week in the southern district of San Diego County.

When the celebration ceremony started at 3:30 p.m., the site was solemn and peaceful. The stage was decorated with "Falun Dafa" and "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" banners. At the entrance to the site, practitioners displayed briefings of Falun Dafa, Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials and posters. During the ceremony, a representative of practitioners gave opening remarks. She briefly described Falun Dafa's worldwide spread, Falun Gong practitioners' contribution to San Diego County, encouragement and recognition practitioners have received, as well as the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Another practitioner then introduced Falun Dafa to the audience in Spanish.

Proclamations issued by California state senators, representatives as well as all San Diego County council members for the "Southern San Diego County Falun Dafa Week" were announced during the ceremony. A representative for the practitioners expressed practitioners' sincere appreciation to officials of all levels for their support and commendation of Falun Dafa.

Five Chinese and western Falun Gong practitioners then demonstrated all five sets of Falun Gong exercises, followed by performances by practitioners of a traditional Chinese fan dance and a waist drum performance. Practitioners' outstanding performances were greeted by enthusiastic applause from the audience. Finally, some civilians who attended the ceremony learned all the Falun Gong exercises. Two civilians from Mexico also expressed their wish for practitioners to go to Mexico to teach Falun Gong.

Luis Natividad, city councilman of National City, issued a proclamation to this event. He was very happy to accept a Falun Gong book and Exercise Instruction Video presented by practitioners at his office. State Senator Dennis Moreno Ducheny, Assemblywoman Shirley Horton, Assemblyman Juan Vargas as well as all council members of San Diego County Council also issued proclamations to this event.
