Falun Dafa Increased My Wisdom: The Cultivation Experience of a Schoolteacher in Taiwan

(Clearwisdom.net) My husband used to be really interested in martial arts and at one time learned a type of qigong and began using it to treat other people's illnesses. After doing so, he developed many health problems. For instance, he had trouble lifting his arms and he suffered from severe chest pain with every breath. We took him to see numerous physicians specializing in either Western or Eastern medicine, but the treatments all ended up in vain. One day I saw in a bus a sign saying, "Falun Dafa volunteers teach the exercises free of charge," and decided to give it a try. When I got home, I immediately called to inquire about the exercise site. To our amazement, after practicing Falun Dafa for just a month, my husband's illnesses were cured and the acute sinusitis that I had lived with my entire life disappeared in just a week. I no longer have a stuffy or runny nose. Falun Dafa is truly miraculous.

Becoming an official elementary school teacher in Taiwan is an arduous process, especially for those of us who do not hold degrees in education. First of all, we need to pass an examination to attend courses towards the Post-Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE), for which we need to take 40 credits in education before we can receive a license and can participate in the employment examination. Obtaining admission into the PGCE is very difficult. The enrollment rate decreases rapidly with each passing year. I had been a substitute for many years and had been declined admission several times in a row. My weakest subject was math, which I had long given up in my high school years. I only scored 20 points in my college entrance exam. No matter how hard I tried, my math scores in the PGCE exams were always low. No wonder I was never accepted. After practicing Falun Gong, I wanted to walk the path of a cultivator from then on and no longer sought after fame or fortune. I took the examination with a calm heart and my math score increased dramatically. This was my first time scoring above average and I was accepted. This may sound unbelievable to others but I know very well that Dafa has given me wisdom.

After being away from school for so many years, the coursework was very intense and I was under immense pressure. However, I persisted in studying the Fa and doing the exercises each day, and treated my schoolwork from the standpoint of a cultivator. Not only were my studies not delayed, I quickly adapted to life as a student. I obtained 40 credits in nine months and received scores above 90 in two-thirds of the subjects. After receiving my license, I still needed to pass the employment examination to become a teacher, so I applied at a small school near my home. Many people came from other counties and cities, and they all possessed outstanding qualities. I remember one examinee saying sadly that she had applied to several schools but was not offered a job. I comforted and encouraged her. I even read Zhuan Falun (1) between exams and took every opportunity to tell people about Falun Dafa. After the written, oral and practical examinations, I was given a job.

Afterwards, I heard stories of practitioners also having done exceptionally well in the teacher employment examinations. One practitioner applied for an elementary school in Taipei and received first place out of 500 examinees. Why do people who practice Falun Gong have such outstanding performances? I think it is because we become healthier in both the mind and body through cultivation. We see the truth, relinquish our attachments to loss and gain, become more clearheaded, and are able to remain calm in tough situations. This is not restricted to doing well on exams, but also manifests itself in all areas and professions.
