Dafa Practitioner Mr. Zhao Mingxiang Tortured to Death by Police in Jimo City, Shandong Province


(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhao Mingxiang was 46 years old and lived in Zhaojiaguan Village, Renzhao Town, Pingdu City, Shandong Province. He was forced to leave home for four years because of the persecution. On December 21, 2003, he was arrested while distributing truth clarification materials in Duanbolan Town, Jimo City. Villagers discovered his body in a haystack on December 30, 2003.

Witnesses said Zhao Mingxiang was wearing only one shoe and no belt. According to the police custom in Mainland China, the officers remove belts and other items after arresting someone.

On May 25, 2004, Zhao Mingxiang's family went to the Jimo City Police Department to claim the body. The police said Zhao Mingxiang died from "hunger and cold weather." His family asked to take back his ashes, but the police said there were no ashes. Zhao Mingxiang's family saw four pictures of him in the police portfolio, in which he looked emaciated with a long, unshaved mustache. He wore only underwear and was disheveled. Zhao Mingxiang obviously died after suffering nine days of brutal torture at the Duanbolan Police Station in Jimo City. We assume the police disposed of his body in order to escape responsibility. The villagers called the police when they saw the body, and the police said the body was "unclaimed" and "unidentified."

Zhao Mingxiang was a dignified Dafa practitioner. During five years of persecution he lived with fellow practitioners in Qingdao City and Jimo City. He ate simple food and salted vegetables almost every day, as he had to get by on 70 Yuan a month (the average monthly income in China is 500 Yuan).
