An Account Of the Death of Gynecologist and Pediatrician Dong Cuifang from Shunyi District, Beijing

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Dong Cuifang (also known as Dong Cui) was from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. She was a doctor in Shunyi District Hospital for Women and Children's Health. Her husband and she were arrested at the same time in 2001 for informing the public about the truth of Falun Gong. They were detained in the Shunyi District Detention Center in Beijing. In 2002, they were both sentenced to five years in prison. On March 11, 2003, she was transferred to the third unit of the Beijing Women's Prison.

On the day she was transferred to the prison, director of the third branch Tian Fengqing demanded that Dong Cuifang write a "letter admitting [her] guilt." The director also instructed collaborators (1) Li Xiaobing and Li Xiaomen to harass Dong Cuifang. Dong Cuifang insisted that it wasn't wrong to practice Falun Gong and she refused to write the letter. Eager for a bonus, Director Tian Fengqing became very angry and instructed guard Xi Xuehui that they must reach "success" quickly. They continuously used various brutal torture methods on her to force her give up her belief in Falun Dafa. Dong Cuifang died from the torture they subjected her to at 5:24 p.m. on March 19, 2004. She was only 28 years old at the time of her death.

After her death, her mother immediately went to Beijing Women's Prison. Seeing her dead body full of bruises, her mother was devastated. Dong Cuifang's body had many spots with extravasated blood and her right scapula (shoulder blade) bone had separated from her flesh. When her family requested the forensic report from the prison, they showed her family a copy of the report. Her family requested compensation. The prison never replied. Her mother went to the local ministry of law. However, they were no help since they were set on protecting the prison. Her family members stayed in Beijing for 50 days and left Beijing without any other results.

Prison police guard Xi Xuehui has had bad dreams every day since Dong Cuifang was tortured to death. She frequently wakes up from the nightmares. She did not dare to stay alone in the prison's third unit. She had planned to have a baby after her marriage. However, she does not dare to have one now because she fears that it might be deformed [as a result of karmic retribution for the crime she committed].
