Retired Worker From Luoyang Glass Factory is Repeatedly Brainwashed, Jailed and Tortured -- Her Husband Dies From Sudden Stroke Right After Police Threaten Him
By a Practitioner in Luoyang
(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Cai Qiao, 54, is a retired worker from the Luoyang
Glass Factory. She started practicing Falun Dafa in 1997. On July 20, 1999,
Jiang Zemin started suppressing Falun Dafa. In early March 2000, Cai Qiao went
to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Dafa. As a result, she was detained
for fifteen days and fined three thousand yuan (1) by the Public Security unit
at her workplace. On July 18, 2000, fearing that Cai Qiao would go to Beijing again, Li Yonglai,
chief of the Retirement Office in the glass factory, brought Cai Qiao's husband
to his office and threatened him, claiming that if anything happened, this time
he would be held responsible. Cai's husband suffered a stroke after going home
and died after a futile resuscitation effort. On December 27, 2000, Jiang Zemin escalated the persecution against Falun
Gong. Various government units organized brainwashing "classes." The
Retirement Office at the glass factory forced Cai Qiao to attend a brainwashing
class. Since Cai Qiao refused to denounce her belief in
"Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance," the Public Security Unit in the
glass factory transferred her to the Luoyang Detention Center. Political Commissars Yuan Juanli and Wang Chuntang (from the Public Security
Unit, now moved to the Luoyang Police Station) participated in the incident. In
February 2001, the Luoyang "610 Office" (2) and the glass factory
Public Security Unit sent Cai Qiao to the Shibalihe Women's Labor Camp in
Zhengzhou City, Henan Province and detained her illegally for two years. In order to meet their "transformation" quota, guards in the labor
camp beat and curse Falun Gong practitioners. Cai Qiao remained steadfast in her
belief and wrote the words "Falun Dafa is good" on the new clothes her
family sent to the labor camp. As a result, she was brutally tortured twice. The
guards grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head against the wall. They beat
her with electric batons, which wounded her and caused her head to bleed, and
she needed a dozen stitches to treat the wound. They kicked her with their heavy
boots. They tied her up to torture her brutally. She suffered three broken ribs
from their kicks, yet the guards spread a rumor claiming that she wounded
herself attempting to commit suicide by jumping off a building. Twice, her
forced labor sentence was extended by seven months. On September 18, 2003, the day Ms. Cai's forced labor term was completed, the
glass factory police station went to the labor camp to pick her up, yet they did
not let her go home. They prepared a repentance statement [to renounce Falun
Gong] ahead of time and asked Ms. Cai to sign her name. Cai Qiao refused to
sign her name and also stopped her family members from signing their names for
her. She explained the true situation of Falun Gong to them, so in the end the
police had no choice but to take her home. Afterwards, collaborators (3) Zheng Xurong and Gao Xuemei went to visit Ms.
Cai twice a day to continue the so-called "transformation work," and
secretly kept an eye on her. Ms. Cai received only one hundred and fifty yuan as
her monthly allowance, which is even below Luoyang City's minimum living wage.
Cai Qian brought this issue to the secretary of the Retirement Office, Li, who
said that the amount of her income had been dictated by high-level authorities. At around 5 p.m. on December 17, 2003, Li again went to Ms. Cai's home and
took her to a brainwashing class conducted by the Luoyang City "610
Office." They forced Cai Qiao to watch video programs that slandered Dafa,
and attempted to force her to sign a "transformation statement," to
which she resolutely refused. When the brainwashing class was about to end, with
intimidation and smooth talking, they forced Ms. Cai to sign her name. She
signed her name as "Falun Dafa Practitioner Cai Qiao," in an upright
and dignified manner. On January 13, 2004, the Luoyang "610 Office" and the glass factory
police station concocted a secret plot to arrest Cai Qiao, and they again sent
her to the Shibalihe Women's Labor Camp, this time for one and a half years.
Camp officials refused to take her in, so the glass factory police tried to
bribe the labor camp staff to get them to take her in. On the morning of January 20, 2004, Li Yonglai (retired at the time), who was
responsible for the death of Cai Qiao's husband, died of a sudden illness. (1) Yuan: Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese
