Since Jiang's regime started the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, the "610 Office" (1) increased its surveillance of Professor Wang, who is a Falun Gong practitioner. The methods they used to monitor him included internal control, monitoring his residence, confining him in a detention center, and sending to him a labor camp. They assigned the college security department to monitor him, but the security department did not want to cooperate. Finally, the "610 Office" forced the college security department to accept the assignment. The first group assigned to monitor Professor Wang consisted of six people; they were divided into two shifts with three people per shift. There were organized as if they were facing a very dangerous enemy.

In the beginning, these young security officers always carried their police clubs, and they were too nervous to look directly at Professor Wang. Being young men and curious, however, they peeked at him from behind. When Professor Wang discovered them, he tried to approach them and clarify the truth about Falun Dafa and the persecution to them. He knew that these young men had been given much slanderous information and fabricated stories from the "610 Office." Two days later, these young security officers found that Professor Wang was a friendly, caring person and a respectable gentleman; this did not match up with the picture of a criminal that the "610 Office" personnel had made him out to be. According to the rules of the upper management, the security personnel were not allowed to speak to Professor Wang, but gradually they began to build friendships with him and they looked for opportunities to speak with him.

Professor Wang told them about the greatness of Falun Gong; he mentioned that the Tianjin incident was a trap to arrest practitioners, and he talked about the April 25, 1999 incident at Zhongnanhai, in which the peaceful appeal of 10,000 practitioners was falsely portrayed by the media as an angry attempt to overthrow the government. Professor Wang also exposed other slander campaigns by the media, and he discussed the illegal persecution since July 20, 1999 and the support from overseas to help stop the persecution. The young men all enjoyed hearing the facts from Professor Wang and if they had any questions, they would ask him and he would patiently explain anything to them. Some of the security officers wept after they heard the truth of the persecution and they apologized to Professor Wang for believing in the slander campaigns. They regretted that they had said some bad words and did some bad things to him and they asked the professor to forgive them. Professor Wang explained that it was not their fault, but the fault of the evil slander and fabrication campaigns that had poisoned them. The professor said the important thing was that now they understood the truth. They told Professor Wang that as long as the upper management did not come to do an inspection, he could do whatever he wanted. They told him that if he did the exercises, they would like to learn from him. After one term passed, the upper management requested a change of security personnel, but none of them wanted to leave.

When the second security group arrived, it was obvious that they had been counseled by the previous security group, as they were very kind to Professor Wang from the beginning. Professor Wang also clarified the truth to the second batch of security guards. Later on, after those security people learned that Professor Wang had been sent to a labor camp by the upper management, they were all visibly saddened by the news.

When I clarified the truth to my co-worker, whom I shall refer to as "Mr. A," I told him that if he could frequently say "Falun Dafa is great," then he could benefit from it; but Co-worker A had some doubt about it. One day after work, my co-workers, "Mr. A" and "Mr. B," rode their bicycles back home. On their way they encountered a sandstorm, and the air was thick with flying sand. They immediately looked for shelter. At that moment Co-worker A suddenly remembered our previous conversation and mentioned it to Co-worker B and asked Mr. B if he dared to say, "Falun Dafa is great." Mr. B said, "Why not?" and then he started to say, "Falun Dafa is great," very loudly. After hearing Mr. B's loud voice repeatedly, Mr. A was a little afraid that they would be heard and get into trouble and he asked Mr. B to be quieter, but Mr. B said, "If you want to say it, you need to say it loudly." During their conversation, the wind stopped blowing and it started to rain in their region, but the sandstorm was still happening everywhere around them in the distance. They were shocked at what had just happened to them and they jumped up and down excitedly. The next day they told me about the incident and Mr. B said he would say it again and again; he would say it one hundred times! He regretted that he hadn't read the Falun Dafa book (Zhuan Falun), because he could not find the book now. Mr. B is now very healthy physically. It doesn't matter how much work he accomplishes, he doesn't feel tired at all.
