Hong Kong: Falun Gong Practitioners Hold Anti-Torture Exhibition on International Day to Support Torture Victims (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) June 26 is the United Nations Internal Day to
Support Torture Victims. Falun Gong practitioners held an anti-torture
exhibition in Kowloon, which caught the attention of many passers-by. Some
residents walked nearer to take a detailed look and practitioners would give
explanations of the exhibit. Some said in surprise, "So cruel!"
"So vivid!" "So painful!" At 4:30 p.m. on June 26, Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners held a
anti-torture exhibition and demonstrated three torture methods used in
China to torture Falun Gong practitioners. It was reported that Chinese
police use over 100 torture methods in jails, labor camps, mental
hospitals, and detention centers to torture Falun Gong practitioners and
force them to give up practicing Falun Gong. If they do not give up, the
practitioners are tortured to coma or even death. Passers-by said the exhibition was very vivid and many took photos. Raising conscience and ending torture Mr. Kan Hung-cheung, Hong Kong Falun Gong spokesperson, said that
they believe that this exhibition reveals the tortures correctly
according to those from China who have experienced the tortures and
international media reports. Mr. Kan went on to say, "Of course we
avoid causing an over shocking effect to those who don't know the facts
of the persecution. However, this shock of seeing the torture methods
can also awaken people's conscience to pay attention to Falun Gong
practitioners being tortured in China and help end the
persecution." Residents attentively viewing the anti-torture
exhibition It was pointed out that to reduce viewer's uneasiness, the Falun
Gong practitioners did not demonstrate the most bloody tortures and
violent scenes. Actors demonstrating the persecution had light
make-up: bruises on the face and body, a little blood and a couple of
cuts. Actors of police demonstrated the whipping gently. Jiang Zemin Should Be Sued Mr. Kan Hung-cheung said that if some residents are shocked or
terrified by the exhibition, they should know that the terrifying
scenes come from the Jiang Zemin regime's persecution of Falun Gong.
Thus, the residents should file complaints to charge Jiang and his
followers who conducted the torture. The exhibition is only a small portion of the real situation. More
cruel tortures were not demonstrated to avoid causing uneasiness. On
exhibitor said, "People with conscience will protest Jiang after
learning about the cruel torture means." Many spectators took photos of the anti-torture
exhibition scenes Words from passers-by: A businessman from the U.S. said that it was a good thing to
demonstrate the torture means if they were facts and that those who
thought the scenes terrifying were probably unable to face the facts.
Seeing the demonstration is a good thing. A resident said that since there was no chance to experience the
torture, it was a good thing to experience the demonstration to get a
better understanding of the situation. A mother with two children watched quite a while and listened
attentively when Falun Gong practitioners explained each torture
method. When asked about the anti-torture exhibition, she said,
"It is just too cruel." She said that she heard about the
Jiang regime's torture of Falun Gong practitioners but she never
thought it could be so cruel. Several tourists from mainland China took photos while watching.
One of them said, "I heard about the regime's torturing Falun
Gong practitioners. But I never thought it was so cruel." The first torture method demonstrated was "Lock in a small
cell." The second one was "Tiger bench." The third one was "Digging bamboo sticks." For more information about these torture methods, visit http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2001/11/24/16156.html.
