Los Angeles: Anti-Torture Exhibition Held by Falun Gong Practitioners on U.N. International Day in Support of Victims of Torture Move People's Hearts (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) Santa Monica Beach is a famous tourist attraction in Los Angeles area. On Saturday, June 26, it was crowded with visitors. Local Falun Gong practitioners conducted a live mock torture reenactment there to display the tortures endured by Falun Gong practitioners in China, which captured numerous visitors' hearts.

The reenacted scenes of tortures suffered by practitioners in China shocked spectators. Some people stood there for a long time, staring at the bruised victims performed by practitioners; some silently shed tears and constantly wiped tears with their hands; some eagerly asked practitioners questions and requested truth-clarifying materials to find out what it was all about; some immediately signed the petition urging the Chinese government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong.

A couple said that all of their family members were Christians. The tortures endured by Falun Gong practitioners made them recall the persecution suffered by Christians. Their 12-year-old daughter sobbed while watching the torture reenactment.

After watching the live torture display and the truth-clarifying posters, two young ladies talked to practitioners to learn more about the facts. After hearing the plights of practitioners in China, the two kind-hearted ladies hugged each other and shed tears.

Female writer Amanda spent quite some time to carefully watch the live torture reenactment and the truth-clarifying posters. She said that this was very touching! It was good to use this way to arouse people's attention. She said that no one has the right to torture others this way.

June 26 was the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. By means of live display of the torture methods applied to Falun Gong practitioners in China, practitioners hoped to allow more people to learn about the inhuman persecution of the innocent Falun Gong practitioners under the circumstance that this kind of information is strictly blockaded by the Chinese authorities. Practitioners called upon the public to extend their helping hands to support the persecuted practitioners. In the meantime, they called upon the United Nations to apply more effective measures and play a more powerful role in upholding human rights and opposing torture.

Falun Gong practitioner, professor from University of California at Los Angeles, Dr. Wu Yingnian said that the torture methods displayed here were only a tip of an iceberg. In China's labor camps, the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners is taking place everyday and it has lasted for five years now. Through layers upon layers of information blockade, we learned that 996 practitioners have died from the persecution. Among them, many died from the tortures reenacted here today.

Dr. Wu pointed out that Jiang Zemin's group applied tortures to coerce Falun Gong practitioners to give up their belief. They assigned the so-called "ratio of transformation" and "death toll" to labor camps and brainwashing centers so that the operating institutions can wantonly torture Falun Gong practitioners without bearing the corresponding legal responsibility. Even more so, they could obtain promotion and praises by doing so. This has resulted in the deaths of numerous innocent practitioners.

Jiang's group preached their treatment of Falun Gong practitioners as "good influence through education," but the reality was brutal torture. Because they control the country's propaganda machine, they vigorously covered up the crimes they committed and distorted the facts to make themselves appear to be doing good deeds. In addition, they copied the Nazi's deceptive means to invite overseas media outlets to visit the labor camps and left them with the impression that the labor camps were like holiday villages. The shameless means prevented the world from knowing about the bloody persecuting taking place in China.

Dr. Wu said that today they came here to allow people around the world to learn about what exactly has been going on in China. This kind of torture is in fact an insult to the humankind and to the Chinese nationality. To expose the crimes committed by the Jiang's group is for the sake of China, because persecution is also encountered by China's underground churches as well as countless lower strata of society and disadvantaged communities. We hope that all patriotic overseas Chinese people as well as all people who are concerned about China would work together with us to stop this criminal act. Over the past more than one year, Falun Gong practitioners throughout the world filed lawsuits against the chief perpetrator Jiang Zemin and his accomplices in courts of different countries. We believe that in the near future, this group of criminals will eventually be brought to justice and Chinese people will definitely obtain freedoms of expression and belief.
